Paccar Engines

Any issue with the EGR? Wondering if that is causing some issues. On my older truck I had a small open in EGR cooler and it seemed to add most nasty stuff to the fuel filter. But that was a Volvo D13 so just throwing out stuff from that engine.

Second thought what RAR's are you running? I believe those engines run better in higher RPMs vs the Volvo Engines.

 

Turbo took it out when it blew so it was replaced with the turbo plus my truck is modded so it doesnt do anything anyway its just a plate more or less, and the issue has been present since pre moddification. RPM is the standard 455 setting or 1400 @ 75 usually run it at 68 or 1350 rpm. Engine temps stay in the normal 200-215 range for oil and 170 to 190 for coolant unless it gets up over 90F. Air filter gets changed every 2 weeks because of all the dust my truck is exposed to to ensure its not clogging. Has a new filter box since old one was destroyed by mr honda. Has new charge air cooler and oil cooler/filter assembly as old one was destroyed in the wreck. Fuel tanks have been dropped cleaned professionally and backfilled with known good fuel. New lines brackets fuel filter assembly feed lines from the APU, the injectors were inspected and cleaned by pete. I added the prefilter which solved the engine itself from derping. Tried additives, had the guage inspected incase the float was leaking something stupid in, new tank caps incase water or dirt was getting into them, new fuel pump, new return lines, head gaskets and heads, had anything that fuel moves through checked for clogs or contamination and basically everything between fuel and engine has been replaced, upgraded, cleaned or swapped....and still nada.

So its either A i have a lemon engine which is pretty likely considering its history. B. Its a paccar problem and mine is just worse then others. C there is something somewhere stupid i cant find contaminateing the fuel between the piston and the tank. As i said only solution so fat has been more filters.

And for clarity when i say pump i mean entire fuel injector assembly. When that honda hit me chunks of honda and cooling system going bomb mode smashed into that area and broke and bent a lot of stuff around there so they replaced all of them due to one being broken off and unsure if the rest were damaged.

 

Does the engine have a Tune on it? That could be the issue if someone did a hack job.

 

I cant say what they did per forum rules but no, everything is still factory set as far as a tune. I didnt let them change or uprate anything and a friend who works at a pete checked it. All is working at factory settings save the whole modded....stuff

 

The only thing that has changed the diesel fuel in America is the amount of sulfur.

 

There is alot of people that will never realize this. There will be people tell you that they can actually notice a difference of 1 or 2 tenths of a mile better fuel mileage. They will tell you they can feel the truck run smoother after dumping 8oz of mysterious liquid into 250 gallon of fuel.

 

Moving their seat back 1 notch has that same effect too.

 

The savings is in the After treatment system. Less regens means more fuel MPG but not enough to track unless you have been tracking it every fill up for a long time. Some people do not believe in anything that helps and that is alright. Most of these people are older truck drivers that run old equipment and love those long nose Petes.
