is NOT a good idea. They have gone 99% lease-operator, and they sure shouldn't be, because they don't have the freight that will allow you to support yourself. No, let me make that their freight won't allow you to even EAT. They run broker loads, then negotiate their contracts with the broker to include the fuel surcharge in the amount they pay Hendrickson, so they don't have to pass it along to their drivers. This is just a guess, but an educated one. You will have too much time between loads, and the dispatchers and planners have no freaking clue what they're doing. I could go on and on, but I think 'nuff said. If you want more info, PM me.

Just an update. I ended up getting on with Swift, out of the Lathrop terminal. Sitting in El Paso wating for a load right now though. Hopefully in by the time I am tired of swift there will be one of the more local companies willing to give me a shot.

I just got done with my 6 weeks training with swift. They have a terminal in Lathrop. I know they have a bad rap, what company doesn`t?, but so far I haven`t had any issues. I got a truck issued to me today but it was filthy so I pick it up tomorrow and hit the road on my own. This time of year is tough but I see alot of companies are hiring. alot of them will only hire new drivers right now too.

Terrill will not hire or even consider your application unless you have prior experience and a good record. They do pay rookie pay though! .28cpm first 90 days, then caps at .30cpm after that. Dispatchers are easy to work with. Great company to work for if you like pb&j for every meal. Same goes for Sward in Oakdale, Ca. You'll get home once a week, and have nothing to show for your efforts. Good luck....that pot of gold is out there somewhere...maybe.
