Well having hauled oversized freight and also been an escort for the same. I will state that this man didn't have all of his bricks on the pallet. We who have hauled this kind of freight know better and the odds are that when you move a load at night you will get in a accident or worse.
I know of guys that will pull the signs and run because they want to go. But for me the nights and the weekend are times to rest and time to my self. As a driver I thought that oversize was the way to go. And still do today. yes it takes more time than most freight, But it pays better and if you are late you are late. The customer is just glad to see their freight in good shape. My rule was and is no hits, no rubs and no errors.
I would like to get back into Heavy Haul again . Maybe some day.Big Duker Thanks this. -
If you read the news article it says he sheared off the top of the trl on a overpass. The signs show a weight limit on the highway. The true story is he was overweight for the route not oversize. Typical news report.
-
You do know that overtall is another word for oversize? He hit everything because he was to tall. They just happened to find out he was also overweight AFTER he ripped the top of his trailer off and kept on going.

Sounds like a lot of the oilfield haulers in TX. Most never get permits and the state looks the other way most of the time. They run lot of convoy type groups some as many as 9 axles and 14' wide 15' high with no escorts, flashing lights or banners. Sounds like the AR guys got caught in PA and are now going to pay dearly.

He deserves what is coming to him. There is no need to be rushed or forced to take a load without proper marking and paper work. Also to be on a route that wasn't suited for an oversize load, with that being said i don't feel sorry for the driver!
-
How are you oversize if you shear the top off your TRAILER?????? Read the story.
-
I think anything over 13'6" is oversize.Oversize loads don't just parallel the ground.Length,Width,Hight, weight all have limits on size.
-
Again read the story. Do they make trailers over height????
-
Low over pass He should of knew where he was going.
