No, I see them in SoCal all day long.

 

Last guy has a cell right next to Britney now.

 

There are a lot of "modified" trucks running in and out of California. That doesn't mean you won't get caught but the odds are pretty good you'll get away with it.
Just don't roll any coal on the scales, okay?

 

Whoops! It was a little later than dusk. I always wash the truck before crossing the stateline.

 

I use to do that, too. I actually got a level one at the donner scale a couple weeks ago. Spread on the trailer made the kingpin setting 45', and turned out I had developed a leaking brake chamber when I applied the service brake. They only gave me warnings, no citations. I was able to close the spread to make it tandem and wasn't over weight. Contrary to what everybody says, not ALL the Cali scales and officers are hard ##* about that stuff. I was super surprised I wasn't put out of service and didn't have to pay any citation.

 

I was headed home and when I crossed the Grapevine scale they told me ro stop. So I parked. I walked in with my paperwork and saw that I forgot to slide it after they loaded me. I walked in and they forgot why they stopped me but told me next time, that means on the scale! I had about 9 months experience then.

 

I ran a glider out there for years never once got checked.
I'd say go for it just be smart how and where you run. Don't bring unwanted attention to yourself.
