Where is everyone #5

Growing up on the lower income level (OK poverty) there's a whole list of items I'm not really keen on- bolonga, SPAM, Velveeta, puffed rice cereal, powdered milk, canned milk with water on cereal, mac-n-cheese, tater tot mystery casserole (upon reflection, Spot may not have really run away), Tang....
But mom worked with what she had, so no hard feelings.

 

Rates must be in the crapper. I got a big ### mower to go behind my tractor, found it online and got a freight quote- send it! Georgia to Idaho, guessing crated it's 8'x5'x3' and 1000/lbs.- $432!!!!!

 

We couldn’t afford bologna. For us, it was TunaHelper. 4-5 days a week. One of my sisters complained about how tired she was of TunaHelper and wanted something different and mom added in a can of peas. “Please shut up. It will be worse next time.” Nowadays, I will usually avoid anything “casserole.” Can’t even look at it.

On the other hand, that guvment cheese was the best stuff on planet earth!

 

Dad was on strike from Penelec (ibew) we learned to love beans and weenies. Lot's of spaghetti too.

 

And chipped ham.....yuck!

 

We are who we are because mom worked with what she had. Things turned out okay because mom chose not to take the path of least resistance. There’s a whole bunch of grandparents raising tots because mom was garbage.

 

Hot dogs and porkNbeans? Love ‘em!

 

Sounds like a charity drive.

 

Casserole with gov't cheese and potato chips on top. Blech. The cheese was good. Can't remember what else we got on goin'-to-get-cheese-day but vaguely remember something else.
We had, well I guess these days I can't call it what we called it as kids, but [persons that illegally came into the country across a river] stew. Not bad, really.
