So they're going to pay the port authority a ton in tolls to camp out at Fox news, how's that going to help rates?

Some time back, must have been 10 years ago. On an interview program, they had been talking to a mega company representative. One of the topic segments was about rates and profitability. The company talking head says, that they do have a concern for rates, but didn’t worry to much, that for some time the average monthly profit per truck was a little over $1000 per month, and they had almost 6000 trucks on the road.
Think about that for a moment,

Seems to me like they need to be doing the opposite.

as in NOT going to NYC .
If drivers just refused to haul loads to a particular destination then the price would automatically increase since it’s all based on supply and demand

There are brokers getting laid off. Volume down. No need for a big team. It’s a bad sign when brokers go under with drivers. This is bigger than just rates. Fuel costs, interest rates, inflation, it’s all yuck.

So the rates are low for them. Just like when they were protesting the rates at the start of Covid. Do they think that everyone with a contract ran out and negotiated a new rate when people were paying $4-5 a mile to move loads on the spot market last year? Do they not understand how stuff works on a level larger than a single truck operator working the load boards for freight?

Nov 2022 “The government needs to step in and help us because the rates are too low”

June 2023 “The government needs to stay out of my business and let me drive any speed I see fit”
