Glad I got your attention. You guys sound like insiders.

Someone has hit on the turnover issue already at this site. Try reading SadPanda's posts, not to mention some of my own.

    Let me explain, cusses:

Some companies get a tax break on each student they hire at their outfits. Who qualifies for the break is something we don't know yet. Do ALL companies who hire newbies from schools get breaks, or just those that are a certain size? I'd like to know that myself. If they do, these companies have an incentive to hire newbies instead of experienced folk. They even have an incentive to treat their drivers badly so those drivers will quit. This way they can hire even more newbies and get even more breaks. If the students are paying for their schooling through these companies, the companies get a double kickback. This scheme sounds like what is going on at Swift and England. Those guys have turnover that is through the roof, in case you didn't know. They also hire an awful lot of newbies and treat their experienced guys like dirt. I know, as I worked for Swift and have read the posts here on both Swift and CRE, not to mention seen their help-wanted ads every day of the world in the Salt Lake Tribune.

Also, many companies have trucks sitting around their lots that have been put there by drivers who've quit these companies. Some of these trucks sit still for weeks at a time waiting on new drivers. How do these companies cover the fixed costs of these trucks while they sit around?

You answer these questions for me and we'll both know.

I think companies get a tax break on those empty trucks that sit around collecting dust. If companies really DO have razor-thin profit margins like they always claim, they must be getting some relief on those as well. Empty cleaned-outs will drive a company in the ground fast if those (supposedly) low profits have to cover the fixed costs of sitting trucks.

Of course, ######## and moaning about high turnover would help these companies convince the government they are but innocent victims in the turnover racket. This is turnover these companies themselves create, some on purpose.

I hope I've made my case. If you're an insider, I know I can talk all day and you still won't see the light. That's okay. I understand fully. You have a stake in the present arrangements that are obviously skewed in favor of the companies. Let's see what Nancy Pilosi says about this turnover issue, not to mention other issues in trucking that stick drivers with the dirty ends. She's gonna get a lesson in about a week.

A lot of theories and not many facts. So anyone who doesnt agree is an "insider"?

If you don't agree, then automatically you are one of the "insiders" benefitting from the current situation, and you contribute to the problem. Your evil plans to maintain the status quo undermines the efforts of the brave few freedom fighters who understand the truth of the matter and are desparately trying to bring the light to the masses hungering for change and a leader to bring them into the new age of wonder. Basic conspiracy theory 101!!! LOL!

Mr. Lob, open your eyes and your mind. There are plenty of things to see in trucking if you try. Just be ready to paddle against the current and avoid the "easy".

No, not everyone who is a skeptic is an "insider". Maybe you are and maybe you aren't. I don't know you from Adam, understand. I just have to clear the air to make sure you're not in a company's pocket, something called "cutting through the biased BS".

It's so cool to be out of the industry and untouchable.

Oh, you're not untouchable. I am sure that within 2 blocks of your house, there are at least three large one ton passenger vans loaded with company goons and electronic devices checking out your every move. I am sure the entire Salt Lake trucking community lives in dire fear that you will expose them for what they really are. keep fighting the good fight, and let us know how that letter to the Senate Majority Leader goes. Better learn to spell her name right before you send it though......

It must really suck to live in your world, Tip. I would hate to have to go through my life with the fear that any minute someone could be coming up behind me to throw a black hood over my head, take me to some abandoned factory, tape my eyelids open, inject me with truth syrum, flash a strobe light directly into my forced open eyelids and command me to answer questions about the trucking industry. You're not untouchable, you know. You can be found through this website by the fat cats of the industry who want you to stop your foolish rants as they are threatening their ways of life! You're just an IP address away.

(Note to mods: This is not at all intended as a threat to Mr. Tip, but rather a tongue-in-cheek approach to his rediculous claims)

I understand the humor you intend, but finding Tip will not be that easy. He's been enrolled in a Witless Protection Program, and has constant round the clock security keeping him safe.
