Volvo are good trucks. Semi trucks are all the same, same components for the most part, just differentiated by the exterior styling and the cab interiors. The Volvo engine/trans combo is excellent with the crawler gears if loaded heavy.
The wide cab interiors are nice. Western stars are wide too.
I would like to see an interior revamp for Volvo and some higher trim levels. They aren’t anywhere near as nice as the available Paccar interiors.
And get rid of the light color cloth/fabric walls. Light colours show water stains and dirty hand stains and are impossible to remove (create more water stains in the process). Designers need to go with the leather or faux leather so that surfaces can be wiped off properly.

We have 4 of these. I'll ask the other guys, but I think I mentioned it to one of them & he kinda passed it off like his was the same way but I'll double check.
Yeah, I have a test light in my tool box & I checked at the plug/harness on the back of the plug & also checked the inside of the outlet/socket... nothing.
I'll try a bigger hammer next week.... ;)

My 2000 Volvo was the older style of the new ones today but the dash was very cheap hard plastic. It would rattle a lot. I asked Volvo if I could fix it, they said nope. It could not be fixed because Volvo used 3 or 4 bolts the dashboard was screwed into the firewall. The center bolts would pull out from all the big bumps. The Volvo dashboard doesn't have any support from the bottom. Volvo still has that removable bottom cover to get access to back of engine.
Hopefully they fixed that problem. On my 2000 Volvo I had trouble with that bottom cover seal as the truck got older.

Volvo also had no screws holding the dashboard together. I replaced the from blower motor for the hat and AC. No joke Volvo has no screws inside the dash. They were great engineering job or just cheap. That's also why the dash would rattle so much.

I have a 2015 780. I love the truck, 928k with pm's around 25k, uses no oil between. The ride is smooth but boy does she feel top heavy and takes some getting used to. Must have is the enhanced transmission that allows manual shifting and has performance mode because as most auto's seem to me need to shift sooner on the hills to stay in the power band. Needs a better jake brake, (maybe she's just tired)...20k she'll hold a 6% grade, any heavier and I'm using the brakes a lot. Interior needs an update or redesigned, feel like there is a lot of wasted space. Love the seating and table area but it is a PIA to climb to upper bunk if you just want to kick back while getting loaded/unloaded. Dropping table and making it a bed, the seating is uncomfortable as a bed so either make it a permanent bed with under storage or a murphy bed option on the back wall like the cascadia would take care of that problem. Nobody ever mentions the sun visors, the fact you can cover the entire windshield like a drop visor and has a separate flip down side visor is some great engineering. I want to order a new 860 but am waiting with all the crazy pricing going on....and yea I might even order white because I love the clean look, and no I don't wear flip flops or track suits. :)

I hope your “heated windshield” works better than the ones I’ve had….not to mention $1000 to replace.

Drove a 2015 VNL62 T670 with the D13 and 12 speed I-Shift. Had a pretty good torque band when pulling 40,000+ pounds up 6-7% grades. It certainly would hold the gear better than some of the Cascadias and T-680 models I’ve driven. If you were lightly loaded that truck would charge up hills like it was nothing. The only major mechanical issue the truck had when I drove one was the battery disconnect switch had to be changed out due to wire arcing(which nearly started an electrical fire). The clutch packs in the I-Shift were sensitive to overheating when doing multiple pull-ups and backing sometimes when maneuvering in close quarters but another than that the truck performed admirability. It averaged 8.4 mpg, with a high of 11.3 mpg and a low of 7.3 mpg on winter blend fuel. Send us pics of the new truck!

Thats why we need to report those piglets when we see them throw piss botles and garbage bags, so we can stay at nicer Truckstops

Oh my goodness.... I've missed some posts in this old thread. Since its resurrected, I'll give an update.

After 10 months & about 70,000 miles, its been a pretty good truck.
I like its performance. Its pretty fast from the light. Much quicker than that 2019 International that I had. Its comfortable & has a much better ride than the International or any of those Freightshakers I've previously had.
I really like the 12 speed over the 10 speed automatic.

I have had a few issues. I guess someone at the factory put a screw through a wire for the 12v power plug for the TV. It had a blown fuse from day one. I changed it & it immediately blew.
I cant tell you how much I hate the drivers seat that deflates every time you get out or up & then reinflates when you sit back down. I wish whoever it was that approved that option had a good lashing.
The water level sensor had to be removed, cleaned & put back in to reset it or make a good connection so it wouldn't keep shutting the truck down occasionally cause it thought it was low of coolant.
I have an issue that hasn't been looked at yet, related to the windshield washer. Either the tank has a hole in it or a line has a hole in it because 5 gallons of windshield washer fluid only lasts a couple of days & its empty again. I cant find a leak or any liquid under the truck so I assume its squirting out somewhere every time I use it to wash the windshield or it's loosing it somewhere along the road for some reason.
Now, the power steering is growling occasionally, but no sign of leaks. Strange thing is, it only cuts up... occasionally. No rhyme or reason why.

No major issues, just trivial issues to worry the crap out of a person.

For the most part, its a desirable truck. I wouldn't hesitate to take another.

So far, I havent taken a whiz in the bathroom sink at the truck stops. :p
