I know a single Walmart store that lost $3M, in 2021.
Now, those self-checkouts were meant to rid employees and reduce labor costs. However, their theft exponentially increased. There’s no possible way the labor to staff full-service checkouts cost more than $3M, at that store. I’m so glad Walmart took that hit. Hopefully, it taught their greedy management a lesson about their own shortsightedness and ignorance. Of course, their arrogance probably doesn’t allow them to see the bigger picture.![]()

That $3 million is probably the self checkout “employee “ discount
A friend sent me something that Walmart can go back and press charges for theft if they discover where it came from??Tall Mike Thanks this. -
No. It’s customers who appear to be going through the checkout process, but, simply walk out, without actually running their card. When the next customer comes up, the balance will still be on the screen. By the time an associate gets there, the offending customer is already out the door. Also, there are cases where two people working together will do the same, except the second just continues on self-checking on the same transaction, which allows the first to buy extra time in getting out to their vehicle, without getting caught. Then, there are all the items that get put into bags, without getting scanned. Supposedly, meats are the primary theft items, in those cases.GYPSY65 Thanks this.

These stores pushed for self checkouts to eliminate staff. They created this problem. Myself, I'm not overly impressed that I have to do a retail clerk's job and don't even get a discount for scanning and bagging my own items.

I was in the 2nd lane from the end. I didn’t realize it, but, the shop owner had moved into the end lane, against the wall. Also, I didn’t realize he’d brought in an S&W .50, as a joke. When he squeezed the trigger, the percussion scared the bejeezus out of me. He was laughing and wanted me to give it a go, but, having longtime wrist issues and a healthy respect for the caliber’s kick, I gave it a pass. Haha. Cool piece, though.

My cousin bought some crazy pistol for his son. He can’t even have it for another couple years
I’m no small guy and he gives me the gun last weekend and it was like picking up a boulder -
I think it was that ghost pepper ranch sauce. If you take that sauce and dip it in the fries, it will make you want to slap your mama. Now whether it makes you want to shoot her, that's a bit extreme.
Boondock Thanks this.
