It wont go lower than the average inflation would ve increased it . A brand new 389 with fet paid was $165k to $170k in 2019 and the same cost around 230 in 2022 thats 11% inflation yoy not sustainable and absurd. After everything is done and settled the 2024 389 equivalent 589 will be around $183k to $187k.

Did you take delivery of a new T680? I was curious if you did and how you like them and how they are speced. I'd assume they are priced around $200K?

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

The Dealers lots seem to be full of late model used inventory. Paccar Finance lot was packed full. I’m starting to think Manufacturers aren’t in any hurry to build more vehicles. Too much uncertainty right now.

I know of a certain freightliner dealer in omaha that paid way too much for some blue t680s with white and gold graphics late last spring that they are still sitting on , they are now priced at 5% less than what they paid for them and still sitting .
And like you I've decided that when my truck is wore out ill be going back into a company truck because the company drivers are making as much as I am after taxes with benefits.
Secondly at my age I'm not getting into another 4 or 5 years of truck payments on a truck that is even less reliable than my deleted 2013 is , my fleets new 680s live at the shop.

I'm at the same point. Almost pulled the trigger on a truck 6 mo ths ago but decided not to, and I'm glad. I've only got 2 or 3 years left so a new 5 year deal is not in the cards, and the used stuff is junk. May just sell and jump in a buddies dump truck and stay home. I'll miss the long runs but I gotta grow up some day...

That’s surprising to me. Mine are trouble free and have been real happy with them. :knock on wood:

Not a bad game plan but this '19 Freightliner I'm "company driving" with a little over 500k on the clock so far so good. No check lights or any of that. Emmisions controls seem to be doing what they are supposed to. Only burns thru about 6 gallons of DEF a week at the rate I typically roll. It does have an APU and never idles excessive which I'm sure helps. Detroit engine. Seems like Detroit's got it going on. Paccar, Cummins I dunno? I wouldn't buy it tho, warranty almost gone in another 120k. I would a new one though.

The Detroits are good engines and the emissions systems on them are the best in the industry if you ask me. Rarely a problem with them that isn’t the result of neglect or abuse. The engines themselves though can still exhibit some old Detroit habits and leak oil, but that’s always been their case.

I really like the DD series stuff. Just don’t care for the trucks their wrapped with.

No complaints at all about this Cascadia. I know this is going to sound ridiculous talking about a modern plastic truck but it's tight and quiet. No rattles or sqeaks. The APU does a great job. I'm pretty sure it was spec'd with extra insulation, if not it's even more impressive. This ain't a Century class or Columbia POS.
