Everyday now. Yikes!
Yesterday, I think it was United Airlines. Pilot suffered "medical episode" after takeoff. Luckily 2nd pilot on board.Another Canadian driver and tscottme Thank this. -
Every airline aircraft has AT LEAST 2 pilots on every flight. Some of the longer duration flights over 10-14 hours may have 4 pilots. Flight crews have their own version of Hours of Service. Major airline crews have contracts and they work less than the legal maximum HOS.Opendeckin and Another Canadian driver Thank this.

There is a degree of Automation built into transport aircraft, but even that requires a lot of training to operate the systems.

I hope this isn't a major threat to my job in the future... The whole point of me getting into trucking was that there will always be a need for it

So far, an automated truck hasn't taken a single job from any drivers. The largest threat to drivers is from drivers themselves.
