Hey fella's, Ive got an 84 Marmon with a BC400 and Ive been seeing alot on the N14 upgrade parts to crank more power out of it. Can a guy possibly convert this BC to an N14 since I assume the block n guts are the same?

Although the Big Cam & N14 share the same cubic inches ( bore / stroke), the N14 crankshaft will not fit directly into a Big Cam block, it takes machine work to make that happen.

I have converted an early 90’s N14 electronic engine to fully mechanical using Big Cam parts, but that too takes machine work as well as the .010 thicker head gasket for valve clearance….

Many ask about using a N14 2 piece steel top piston in a Big Cam, that will not work as a direct fit since the 2 engines have a different size wrist pin. And the N14 has a larger rod journal….

Hmm...OK well that definitely answers my question then...its a hard NO! By adding an N14 HT60 turbo, air to air and intake to these what kinda power could I expect to gain? Ive seen 100HP, but I dont know if thats realistic.

As far as the ( air to air ) goes, don’t expect any horsepower gains at all that are detectable without a dyno.

I’ve been running air to air on my Big Cam 400 for 6 years or so.
I can say there is a minimal difference in the egt’s, but nothing else that is really detected during normal driving.

It you want to give it a little extra zip, send the pump to Premco in Texas, let Warren build you a matching set of injectors to the pump he builds for you. Tell him what turbo you have and the CPL number so he can synchronize the pump and injectors to the engine.

Or….. you can just crank the fuel pressure up with the pump you have now, and just replace the camshaft at a later date when the injector lobes start flaking from the added pressure…..
