Prutsman West Coast Mirror | Moto Mirror

Never knew till today who began producing West Coast Mirrors. :D
I thot the name was just another Trucker Story like Left Handed Automatic Revolvers, Jake Brake Shoes, Flasher/Blinker Fluid and Skateboard Chain Stretchers.
Drove a late 80's PETE and an equivalent yeared and geared K'Whopper with those type mirrors and didn't mind the shaky shake as the wheels wobbled.
Right side shook a little less from less door slammin'.
A bit weirder at night except in shaky town where them mirrors rather seemed to smooth right out.
Guess the warm wet stagnant air calmed the mirror minders.

I'm suspending my suspended animation and ditching the suspenders.

Had a LS agent call and ask if I could haul 46k. I told him no. Then he asked " Why is it nobody can carry 46k in a dry van any more?" So of course being a smartalek I ask him back if he was going to pay attention to the answer or was the question rhetorical? After a pause he finally said he would pay attention. Filled him in on the current state of things:

Tractors have gotten heavier. Over the past 20 years the manufacturers have tacked on 1000 to 1500 pounds of emission and safety equipment that is required by federal mandate. Also typical engines are now around 15 liter rather than 13 liter as was common 20 years ago. The bigger engine and enhanced (heavier) accessories adds another thousand pounds. Also most everybody has 72 inch or larger high rise sleepers, even more weigh for the longer frame and larger heavier sleeper. Now I could haul the 46k load if he gave me notice enough to burn off 100 gallons of fuel but I parked full up. Historically I have found the heavy loads do not pay as well as I can get for lighter loads and they burn more fuel further diminishing my net profit.

Fast forward 6 months got a call from the same dude. I was in Seattle finishing a drop with no pre-plan. Came out and directly asked If my fuel was low enough to snag a 46k pound load of bottled water paying emergency type rates to the Canadian boarder for a cross dock to a launch. We both made good money on that load. There was a cruise ship coming south that forgot to load bottled water while in port.

Yeah, sounds as if someone in JD has control of the lever you need to get hold of. Crazy suggestion.
Send a business card to the JD dealers in the area you would like to cover. Might want to adapt the card as your transport offer as opposed to your present.
Just do a Google search on: "JD dealers in or near me". For "me" put the name of the city you are seeking to get surrounded dealers. Cards cost ?, stamps .$0.60, so a sales call for less than a buck. Might be possible to talk to a Quick Print and get a post card thingy, your business card adapted, pic of rig, and some better rate at PO on mailing.
An analysis from when I sold Clark Equipment for a smart azzd dealer principal. Sale meeting, question..

He: What do you want to make this year?
Me: 60K (We are in 1973)
He: What is your commission on your average forklift sold?
    Me: $1,000.00
He: So you need to sell 60 machine.
    Me: So...
He: How many sales calls to sell a machine?
    Me Say 1 in 10...
He: So you will have to make 600 calls to sell the 60 machines.\
    Me: That's the math...
He: How many working days in the year usually?
Me: 240 on 5 day week and holidays.
He: So, 600 calls in 240 day is only 2.5 calls a day.
Me: No ,You need to raise the commission...

Think he was the first to offer defrosters on the mirror, or Ted Prutsman "Defrosto" mirrors. I never had those, never could have "nice things"...

Clarification...We had those in 1953, where I knew the name. We did not have defrosters in them. Stanger still, we did npt even have A/C in the truck....

Leggings... Now days they are called leggings. And if they get into particular brands they can be VERY expensive. My wife went on a bit of a bender a few years ago buying casual wear of a particular brand. She latter admitted to having a small addiction... She no longer watches the streamed sales events for that brand, Thank God!!!

I like the post card idea as well.
