Based on what I know personally about Werner, I won't be applying there soon but what I know isn't much and is all hearsay. I don't personally know anyone who works or has worked for them. I've read enough negative posts to stay away.

I know 2 things about this company, #1....guy in CDL class tested positive for drugs WASN'T sent home instead sent to weekend drug class, stayed in school and was given his CDL test passed and went to work for them.
#2 Same guy 6 months later became a trainer for this company with ONLY 6 months experience of big rig driving.!

Those 2 things tell me they are NOT a good company to work for.

Back when Cl Werner was still running the company it was decent place to drive for.

I drove for Werner in the 90s and it was a good size company then but still had the small company feel about it. You could run as hard or little as you wanted as long as your miles were consistant and had not caused any greif.

I got out when I saw the changes in the training program. As stated above they started to make trainers out of trainees that had a grand total of six months of experience and the worse case would turn it into another Swift, so I bailed...

Why exactualy did you leave? Just because Werner started letting 6 month old drivers become trainers you left the company (that had no effect on you)?

    The effect is this...
What makes a diference is not how the company treats it's employees but in the case of truckers how the custermers look at the drivers. If I go to a shipper or consignee driving for a "respectable" company I get streight forward answers to questions and not put off and made to wait.
How a driver is treated is directly linked to the experience of the driver and knowing by experience how the docks work, not just backing to be loaded or unloaded.

If a trucking company sends in people that treat the people at the dock with respect and do not harass them then that company will be treated better then if another company just sends in truck for a load and does not care beyond asseigning loads...

I can remember getting loads that had great miles just to have them repowered because an O/O could get it there faster in an ungoverned truck....

So what you are saying is that you left because you speculated that you would loose respect as a Werner driver? I would think that if you earned the respect as a driver with a company you are dropping loads at then the respect would stay there unless you did something to damage it. Right?

So really nothing directly related to you mad you leave Werner?

The piece about Werners training program for me was the deciding factor and not the reson for leaving.

For some time I had wanted to and been asking to go regional west coast, and majorety of the freight had been eastcoast, or more acuretly east of the Missippi. So I left for a position that kept me closer to home and would not keep me out for more then a month without being home...

I have been a werner driver for about 6 mos and so far they have been decent i am just hear getting my exp and thats all. Yes they do have their issues but this is trucking what company does'nt have problems i just let it go in one ear out the other. So if i have to rate werner on a scale of 1 to 10, ten being the best i would give them a 7 thats just my two cents:thumbup:

    thanks and be safe
