I used to live in Weed. I swear that town gets by on tourists buying t shirts to show off to their homies. BTW, you can park your semi at the Ray's Food Place in town if you need groceries. Expensive, but convenient, 2 minutes off I-5. Also Wal Mart and Raley's in Yreka, there's a gravel turn around behind Raley's where no one ever bothered me. Yeah I'm an I-5 guy LOL

 

For OP, Allow Me mentioned something that bears repeating.
Time of day. Went in on some highway to a pickup, no problem.
Heading back out two hours later on the same highway, the way I just came in was now packed with vehicles.
Gotta time it right.
