    I think what it comes down to is a lot of people don’t pay themselves. Then, they dip into those “profits” and next thing they know they’re stuck in their old truck and can’t fathom a new one that’s much more efficient.

    I can run cheaper than you and make a profit, not running cheap. I am much more flexible than you. And be much more stress free. Because with no truck payment and $500 per month insurance, life is much more enjoyable.

    There is the age old argument of people who make their income look as little as possible or a loss. Then, there is those people who make their profit as high as possible and buy equipment and utilize deductions to lessen their tax burden.

    I’ve never understood trying to lose money or “break even” tax wise. To me that’s just maintaining and not getting ahead. If all you want is to make a living then fine but some of us are trying to get rich.

    I see a lot of posts from newbies where they say they aren’t trying to get rich but just make a living. Fine.. do you. Why not just drive a company truck then?

    I have a saying that I love trucks, I like trucking, but I’m not doing this for fun. It’s far too stressful. I’m doing this to make MONEY. Real money. If not then wtf are we doing?

    This isn’t a life style to me, this is a means to get ahead in life. I think that’s also part of the large gap between the differences in folks.

    This truck, it's second year. 80K miles so far.
    Just replaced front tires and a cracked rim
    for $1500. And i should have go this way a
    long time ago. My mistake.

    How do you know it’s much more enjoyable? I enjoy a quiet, smooth truck that I can walk away from for a couple weeks and not even look at it until it’s time to leave again.

    Well good for you I guess. I am not a stressful person at all. I enjoy working when I want and can take off just as much time as I want too. My business model is built in to have a payment at all times as I only will be driving new trucks. More power to you if you like driving old trucks. Guess you are just looking for a reason to pat yourself on the back for being able to run cheap for some reason.

    By not having the financial stress on me. I do
    only light work on my truck by myself. I can walk away from couple months and not even look at it until it's time to leave again.
