New Driver Work History

    391.21 application for employment.(b) (11) "For those drivers applying to operate a commercial vehicle as defined by Part 383 of this subchapter, a list of the names and addresses of the applicant's employers during the 7-year period preceding the 3 years contained in paragraph (b)(10) of this section for which the applicant was the operator of a commercial motor vehicle, together with the dates of employment and the reasons for leaving such employment; and"

    still looks the same to me...

    So it is only if you have been a driver right? Not if you are a new driver will they want 10 years of work history?

    Think of it this way. The FMCSA wants 3-year work histories from everybody that they hire. That applies to everybody. Then in addition IF the applicant has a CDL they want up to 7 years of driving job histories for a total of 10 years.

    Ok thank you.

    So even if I had my CDL from say a private driving school but no driving jobs I would not have to give them 10 years?

    You give them all the driving history you have. That rule is UP TO 7 years.
