1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Anyone know a local company based in/near NYC?

I can't believe, they can't keep me near NYC.
Nobody else wants to go there.

Who runs all these containers out of Newark ports?
Maybe I should get a TWIC card and just become a "Port-'scort" Seems like a pretty good racket.

Unforunately those guys do not make very much money.

Have you tried with JBhunt or Schneider? Try their local or intermodal divisions.

ConWay's website indicates they're hiring for that area, I don't know if you care for LTL, but they have OTR as well

Yeah, I turned down Conway because they required Hazmat. I also didn't know if I'd be required to run OTR for them before they'd put me on LTL (which would have placed me back at square one).

    I might reconsider them now.

Dont know what kind of experience you have but the first thing that comes to mind if your in NYC and want to stay local and get paid well would be gas hauling. I saw an ad for gas haulers down there. I think the company was goodman. Hess was looking for drivers there awhile back also.
