I think what you might be seeing, is the change over to stop relying on OTR, and more reliance on Local, which it seems might be easier for them to attract drivers for. Cans from the railroad deliver to warehouse, local guys take it from warehouse on last mile. The job I just left, was setup like that. The Warehouse, actually doubled as a small assembly station for the JIT delivery. Computer told what was going to be manufactured that day, so they send the info to the warehouse, who pre assembles the parts....which actually originate from another factory that we also pulled from to deliver to the warehouse. The problem is...both locations were the bottleneck in the process. Overall I agree...JIT sucks...but I fear the "driver shortage" is the impetus to make warehouses local for train delivery of mass amounts to be sent to them..either through local manufacturers or intermodal delivery. Let's also not forget automated deliveries, either. Driven both ends of that, and logically it makes sense, but I'm a nomad by nature and local holds no real interest for me after being stuck in one place long enough to retire from..

Add in the delivery of Amazon etc, and you see how they're going to control the logistics via large controllable corporations and kill the mom and pop independents. The Borg is at work here, nothing surprizes me at this point in life.

Where's the milk? I thought you ate your Mexican food with milk like the last photo....which immediately set my stomach in motion just thinking about that combination.

Stopped in at O'Neal Steel in Birmingham yesterday morning to get loaded and it took a total of 9 hours before I even put the tarps on. What a total fiasco. By the time I was ready to leave I was worn out so I just shut it down and got some sleep. I think I'm gonna take this load to Grand Prairie TX and then go home for the weekend. My little boy is sick with strep throat and asked if Daddy could come home. Kids are too cute!
