VSP: One Dead, One Injured In Crash On I-81

This truck driver and his company is in deep trouble because of parking on the shoulder. Say whatever you want to, but when it comes down to the bottom line, even if him and his company get out of all the lawsuits that will come, their bank accounts is going to be much smaller. And this happened at mm250, @mm251 there is an interchange and Pilot has a truck stop there. I see it time after time, a truck will go right by a safe place to pull off but will park right on the shoulder.

Our lives are but a vapor. Bad decisions can cost us our lives and others in the matter of seconds. The truck driver could have put on his hazzard lights (seconds). The Ford mustang should have waited (seconds) and not passed on shoulder. Now a life is over in a matter of seconds.

Every decision that a person makes, comes with consequences, good or bad. Here we have two bad decisions meeting each other and the end result was tragic. One life cut very short, the other life now in deep legal problems. In just a few seconds, two lives changed dramatically.

Unfortunately, many see stopping in the berm as time saved, versus waiting on a light to get to the Truckstop and find parking…..

I saw something the other morning @ /exit 4 in Tn on 81 that blew my mind. At this exit there are 2 Pilots, the truck stops were full, the ramps were full, shoulders full and guess what, the north bound left shoulder is wide and the state has painted yellow stripes on the pavement, guess what, yep the left shoulder was full too. How a driver could even think about doing this just blows me away.

the dumb idiots won't turn their lights on but they will flip the 4-ways on. and then you have the ones who do not realize that just because their headlights are on, their taillights are on also. Wrong!

    Numb Thanks this.

Five years OTR, have never once parked on a ramp shoulder. Pulled off a few times due to bathroom emergency and that was it. I never understood drivers who purposely park on the ramps.
