A couple weeks ago I put an ad out in truck paper wanting to train with an o/o. A O/O based out of VA responded and we started e-mailing. He does run East-West coast reefer. He said this would be a temporary job until Swift or Western Express can take me. I understand and am proud to be working for him. Today he e-mail me my flight information and what to bring. I'm flying out next Monday night.

This came from an idea of the HR guy at C and W trucking in Winter Park FL. He told me to do this and it worked. His truck is a Freightliner Coulmbia w/ Detroit 515HP mated to a Ultra-shift tranny. It is a former trans-am truck with a tri-pack. I am bringing my laptop, my log books (I have my former Roadmaster one and one I bought from Pilot), my gloves, and clothes for five days. I'll try to update it everyday but please do not be upset if I can not.

KH... That is awesome and in my opinion and experience the best ay to go...
That is how I started... With an O/O who was with a small local company... He was a great trainer and taught me well... Then I got hired on with the small local company even though they usually require 2 years experience...

Good luck to you and keep us updated on your experience and journey....
