Local jobs in El Paso don't pay... you're competing with half of Juarez with LFC-Bs (Mexican Federal CDL), and they will drive a truck locally for $15-17/hr, which is all the local outfits are offering. That's why apartments are cheap, the locals don't have any money (and most of that rent is going towards the highest property tax rate in the state).
I would literally pick anywhere else in TX than El Paso, I lived there for almost a decade and am much happier elsewhere.lual and Pens4Stanley Thank this. -
Better pay at Herman isn't happening. Shouldn't have went there in the first place.

One option to consider: Try trucking for a year based out of Pennsylvania to see if the lifestyle is for you before you make a big move to another state.
