Posting to add one more thing that might matter to someone. My '22 has a steer axle sway bar. The '20 did not have it, and I did not see it on the options list to ask for it on the '22. My salesman looked into it (supposedly) and said it was just a production change. It appears to be something that could be ordered and bolted on without too much drama. Might need the vin off a newer truck with the same axle to get one.

Saying this as the OP was considering a used '19. If my salesman was telling the truth, it probably does not have a sway bar unless it was specifically asked for. Easy enough to raise the hood and look for it.

Driveability-wise, the sway bar on the '22 does improve cab lean on hard turns. Handling is about the same, however. I have not bothered to pursue an upgrade on the '20 for that reason. Not enough juice for the amount of squeeze for what I'm doing with it. Someone else that does more swerving through the mountains with heavy loads might want that more.

I just joined the “9+ MPG Club”. I’ll be curious to read back through the feed.

Joel Morrow is the guy I was thinking of. There is a search feature in the groups that helps cull the fluff. Plenty of hair splitting in there, so don't be surprised. Some of those threads are like little old ladies sewing circles, but there's a lot of good discussions to learn about other people's good and bad choices.

I believe Jamie Hagen or something like that is the man to copy off of the Macks. You have to get the crawler gears in able to get below 2.47. This will give the start ability is my understanding. And Mack does the same as Volvo on the gears but have to spec the crawler. If you have not seen Jamie set up you should really study his stuff. He is also on the 9 mpg page as well but not that active. On Volvo it is Joe Morrow he has that new truck and killing it. Has a lot of add ons as well but is doing around 11 mpg no problem.

It has some good information in it. If you like the Volvos look up Joel Morrow, He has the new purple Volvo and is killing it. 11 MPG pretty easy.

Also worth mentioning Joel and some of the others are using pedal coach and other extreme hyper-mile driving techniques that many just aren't going to do, including yours truly. The spec on the truck is part of it, but there's much more than meets the eye going on. Not saying it's a bad thing. Just not as universal as they tend to make it look. I enjoy reading about it from time to time, even if it's things I either don't want to or can't adapt.

Yep I agree a lot of everything going on but a lot of good information for those that dont mind learning stuff. I will never be those guys but like learning new stuff on driving and efficiency. My next truck will be made to push 9-9.5 with out really trying and plan on buying a new trailer sometime around the same time with a little more push for getting better fuel mpg's.

I’ve been reading through the page, today. Tons of great info.

The Pedal Coach seems to be mandatory to getting the kinds of mileage they are.

I don’t work for a company who cares about mileage or idle time. Yes. The newest trucks have skirts, Flow Below, and APU’s. But, there isn’t a trailer skirt to be found. Their maintenance and tire programs leave a lot to be desired, as well. They’re good people and I have a dedicated gig, so that’s what I focus on. However, I’m a bit of truck geek, which is why I’m interested in what you guys are doing.

We had a 2020. Mechanically and driving it was great, no complaints besides the rattling hood hinges (bad design). I couldn't stand the interior, small, no storage. As always, the interior is personal preference. I wouldn't buy one again.
