DOT has nothing to do with the heater in the ruck. ONLY DOT covered areas like those wipers, brakes, tire wear and all the other things that are wrong in the truck.

DO NOT ABANDON THE TRUCK! That's about the worst thing that can show up on a DAC report!

Do it right, Give 2 weeks notice now that you've cleaned out the truck.
    Give the notice 3 ways!
    # Certified return receipt requested by the Postal Service,
#2 Qualcomm or what ever service you use and take a picture of the screen you send and their reply and screw that challenge of "photo shopped" crap! That's used in a court of law.You can ask them for a copy of those messages off of their servers as they will have them which is better than a picture but they'll lie outright to your face that they deleted them but they won't as they are a permeate record and you can also go to Qualcomm for them.
#3 By phone and RECORD the conservation as most cells have that capability or get a dispatch buster" at the truck stop.
#4 have a letter written up stating that you have given "bottom feeder carriers" a two week notice and that YOU kept your end of the bargan and that you have turned in a POS truck (put truck # here) and that you have either attempted to or have a signed receipt for the truck in whatever condition it's in and that you full filled the companies policy of terminating your employment. Get the HR or safety department to sing it (here I'm going to ROFLMFAO) as they will look at you like you're a total idiot and you look at them like they ARE the POS they really are and tell them that Then you hand them the OTHER letter you have in your hand stating EVERYTHING you have endured with their POS truck and company practices and inform them that it's all verified in the Qualcomm and you're going to post it to EVERY trucking forum out there and the rip off report! Which is it going to be? Give me a decent DAC report or I write the truth about this POS company.

Give them the 2 week notice or go ahead and start the job hunting up and when this bottom feeder you're driving for get a call they'll more than likely bring you in and let you go!

I hope you have pictures of the truck both inside and outside from when you hired on showing how that POS looked with dings scratches and holes, and you had pictures of the inside of the truck showing how dirty it was when you got in and when you got out and get a FULL DOT inspection on that POS when you turn it in so they can't say you, wore the tires out blew something else up or what ever. Seen it happen to many times! Also try for a picture with a DATE on the picture itself with the truck in front of the office or a sign. Yep again I''ve seen companies say the truck was abandoned on the road and there is a picture of it in the shop!

Whatever you do try NOT to quit while a load is on the trailer! That's load abandonment and yes bottom feeders will hit you with that also even when they bring you to the yard. Just keep taking pictures of the dispatch or record your calls to CYA as best as you can.!

Have enough money to get you home on the bus in you checking account or a credit card!

By the way who is this POS so we know who to stay away from?

Well I hate it but I'm going to 'play nice' (they probably won't be able to deal with that)

I can't go into anymore detail about the situation because I might give away EXACTLY who I am, (can't be too many employees with this specific set of circumstances) but I'm going to try to get their truck back to them.

Does anyone know what kind of timeframe it takes for them to "polute" my DAC? I'll have to wait that long before I can talk about details, to know I'm in the clear.

At this point it's not critical for me to get another truck driving job and OTR is definately not working out. I'm going to try to pursue regional/local work or maybe I'll just do something behind a desk for a while.

It would help if some of these recruiters would stop posting wanted ads for regional/local and then you find out it's a national carrier and they want you to work OTR for a while untill "something opens up".:biggrin_25513: I'm just sayin,,,,

This should be your first clue here as to what kind of a company you are working for. If they lie to you right from the get-go, why think it will ever get any better?

That should be one of the first questions you ask the recruiter. "Is the job really regional/local right from the start. Any answer other than "yes, absolutely," should tell you to go elsewhere.

I understand your position about not wanting to be identified. But as soon as you are comfortable with doing so, it would sure be nice if you could identify this company.

Well I can say this,,, they have their truck back.

There's a bit more to the story, I'll post on that later.

Right now I'm kinda stuck for a little bit. (as in, I can't even look for more work at the moment, which is frustrating.) But it's not because of my leaving the company.

BTW for those of you with TV's who caught the 7-11 episode of Undercover Boss. I used to drive a route delivery truck like Igor. I laughed that the "boss" was so concerned for the overnight hours. But man it made me miss my old job.

Too bad the housing market was built on a house of cards. It was a good gig delivering building supplies to contractors. *sigh*:biggrin_2557:

This is EXACTLY what I was going to suggest. DOT will be more than happy to help out a driver in this situation. They are quick to bust out companies that wont fix heat issues with the truck. This happened to a good friend of mine and DOT took care of it. Oh yeah, when DOT puts the truck out of service, your company has to put you up in a hotel until the heat is fixed.

This happened to a person I know who worked at a local company in Illinois. They refused to fix his heater / defroster and some other things. It is required that your defroster work btw. You can be put oos if it dosent work. What he did was drive to the nearest scale and asked them to DOT him. The company got something like 16k in fines.
