    Hi, I am not truck driver, but I have one question for drivers from Canada. Can someone who have physical disability become truck driver in Canada? I have bad leg and walk with a cane, but it doesn’t make driving car difficult for me. Please tell me how it works in your country and province.

    There's drivers in the USA with one leg missing. It's legal.
    @Moose1958 probably knows the regulations about that.

    Ah, a truck driver without a leg to stand on,,,( rimshot), they have trucks in Canada? Oh yeah, the Weather Channel shows us every night what apparent morons they must be. I fired off a letter to WC, telling them I was offended by these "towing" shows, making truck drivers look stupid. Naturally, they didn't respond, but we don't need shows like that for idiots watching that think that is normal.
    Automatics are the rule today, and opens up the pool of drivers considerably. A bad leg may hamper you from doing regular truck driver chores, but there are plenty of jobs, that's not an issue. Linehaul, dump truck, shuttle, if you can pull a lever, you're in. I meant no disrespect to our neighbors to the north, we get a lot of freight from you guys, and a tip of the hat!

    The operative rule is 391.41(b)(1).

    (b) A person is physically qualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle if that person -
    (1) Has no loss of a foot, a leg, a hand, or an arm, or has been granted a skill performance evaluation certificate pursuant to § 391.49;

    Now, if you want a headache go read 391.49 in its entirety.

    Then the FMCSA Medical Examiners handbook will give you a migraine headache. It's possible, but I think I had rather attempt to rob Ft Knox!

    The Medical in Canada doesn’t look at extremities and function as far as I know. I’ve only had them focus on eyes and blood pressure.
