need some advice...

hey, and welcome aboard. was it CDI/TDI in Milton? if it was i JUST WENT THERE TODAY for an interview . i am definately going there as i live right down the road in Crestview. if it wasn't, check them out. they will find a loan if you can't pay cash. it sounded good to me, but i'm a newbie also LOL.

It sounds llike 5K for three weeks training is a bit high . I know one has to make some money while going to school but man 5k. Thats only 120 hrs of training if you go 5 days a week and 8 hrs a day .I'm going to a tech school here in my state it is 22 week with early exit. 7:30 to 3:30 M-F. For less than 4k (3600)with more time driving than class room work . Then you get to pick the company you want to work for rather than them choosing you or having to stay with them just to pay your training off. Alot of companies will do tuition remburstment for going with them . In my mind this would be a better deal even if you didnt like the company after X amount of time you could leave . it is from 7-5:30 monday - friday with a 3 hour night class at the end. classes start every monday and there are (i was told) only up to 12 or so allowed per class, so student to instructor ratio is supposed to be good

 

don't know if you are interested or not, but there is a school in texas sponsored by usa truck that is only 1700.00. there is no contract so if you choose not to go with them, you just pay the cost of tuition. i'm starting their school in richmond on monday. you have to have your class a learners' permit though.

 

Im goin to sign up for the cdl class at the local college and the total fee is $1300 and its only 30 miles from me so u might check into local colleges.

 

Have you thought about schooling with Schneider? Yes, you'll have to drive for them for a while (a year), but I heard only positive about schooling there and nothing bad about driving for them in all places I checked. They seem to come up from what they used to be let say 10-15 years ago. I do not really care if somebody will call me "Pumpkin" because of the trucks color J. After all I made my mind to start this way, as you may understand I'm not a driver yet. Also after I read here about community colleges having such classes I'll look at this option as well. I'll try to avoid paying so much (~$5k) for schooling. Good luck!
