So I packed up my bags and left my 3 jobs and moved out the apartment I was staying in. Going on my third week swift want me to send this to my doctor who prescribed me some medication that I don’t currently take. I tried several times to get in contact with the doctor and I have been unsuccessful (email and phone). I gave them all of my prescription papers and my pharmacy location and number where I got the prescription filled.

The doctor that prescribed me the medication is 12 hours away and the assistant that answered the phone keep telling me that they can’t fill out the paper and I should contact my primary doctor. When they are the only doctor I’ve been to in years and the only doctor I’ve been to in that area.

At this point I’ve gave up my whole life to come and drive for swift and was talking to a recruiter for months before making this transition. They have me in a hotel and at this point I have no family and no where to go and they are saying I can’t get into a truck this week if this paper isn’t filled out and they would probably have to let me go soon.

Why can’t the doctor that prescribed the medication fill it out? What kind of doctor was it? I admit I don’t really know anything about this stuff, but it looks to me like a pretty standard medical release that any doctor should be used to filling out all the time. I don’t see why they are refusing to fill it out. Maybe a new doctor can see you, do an exam, and fill it out? Sorry just guessing here.

    @Moose1958 might be more help.

Why did you say anything about any prescriptions you DO NOT take?

Request your medical files from the prescribing Dr and then go see another for a medical release.

@Newdriver813 Where those meds narcotic painkillers? If so even if it means a 24-hour round trip get that paper to the prescribing physician. I heard about a guy that got sent home from an orientation that had nowhere to go. He was sleeping in his pickup. I'm sorry about your situation.

Also Swift is not the only carrier that will train you. Even if you have to leave Swift it is not the end of the world. @Chinatown might have some ideas for you.
He will need to know where you are. AND the city on your CDL if you are homeless.

    Bean Jr. Thanks this.

Your "Swiftest" course of action--see a nearby "minute clinic" or "urgent care" doctor--and explain the above situation to him/her.

An alternative idea: see a nearby doctor/clinic that also does DOT physicals--and explain the situation you've described above....

Then follow the advice given here in post #4 (which...in some form or another....is probably what the "urgent care" doctor and/or clinic will also suggest).

Depending on the medication in question.....and the professional judgement of the physician who finally does the papework.....you may (or may not) have a job with Swift when this situation finally plays out.....

Keep us posted here on how things go.

Do you already have a CDL?

If so--do you have any endorsements, yet?

They have the papers when I had the staff speak with them on Thursday and said it was on the table and should be faxed over the same day but I never received the paper on Thursday or Friday.

It is for hydrocodone that the doctor gave me when I had my wisdom teeth pulled. This showed in my drug screen, but I knew it would since I had a private screening done before heading to swift, but since I had my documents I thought everything was okay. I left Reno and went to Phoenix, not knowing they would need this paper filled out and and I’ve been having the hardest time trying to get this doctor on the phone and I’ve only managed to deal with his assistant. I had his personal number when he called me after the surgery. Unfortunately the phone company only go back a certain amount of days.

Right; you talked yourself out of a job.
You may be ok if you just quit Swift and start over. Were you even hired with Swift at all? If you weren't an employee, then you won't have to even list Swift.
If you were there 3 weeks, you may have been an employee.

Swift isn't going to hire you, no matter what.
Start over and go with a company that does urine tests, not hair follicle tests.

    You live in Reno?

Wish you'd come on this forum before you went to Swift. We would have warned you about the drug test and advised you to go to Stevens Transport which does urine testing.

I didn’t say anything about a prescription that I don’t take. It came up in my hair sample, and I have all of the papers that show this was a prescription for me.
