Ya.. I think freights doing okay.. Or.. Just a lot of people have decided to leave and maybe not as many new hires are comming.... OR... Were just imagining things..

Ya.. The maps are okay.. I've seen a lot worse than those.. I had a guy draw me a crude map once.. It consisted of two boxes and some squigly lines.. Now that was hard to follow... Lol!!!

A true W9 driver can park it anywhere. Sometimes you just have to wiggle it around a little more to squeeze it in.

Schreibers docks must have been designed by a sadist. The last time I was at one it was a blindside parallel upside down alleydock. It was so bad a daycab driver with a 30ft trailer said it gave him chills even thinkin about hittin that dock.

In southern IN, heading for a 99 in OH10 then off to Atlanta.

I am finally home for a restart.
Last weekend I only made it home for 24 hours.
I did my recap wrong early in the week, and went 2 hours over my 70 on Wednesday.
So when I delivered Thursday I had to wait till midnight to move again.
Delivered another load 74 miles from home Friday afternoon, but only had 30 min left on 70, so had to stay in Buffalo last night.
Now I am finally home. I have a load out of Erie PA on Monday morning going to Allentown for 0300 Tuesday, short run but that is ok.

Freight seems to be picking up here. We are short on drivers though and heavy on new trucks. They are putting the 200+ 2010 trucks on the road finally.
They had cut back on hiring for most of last year, but they also cut way back on the "heartland Cares" program, so many many drivers that had been with the company for 10+++ years have left and they are having a hard time finding enough experienced drivers to fill the trucks.
Home time has gone down just to keep the freight moving and the loads covered. I am supposed to be home 3 out of 4 weekends. Now it is out 2 weeks at a time for regional drivers and out 3 weeks at a time for the system drivers.
I have a feeling that they will be raising pay back up and starting to fix the cares program in the next few months. They will not keep drivers without it, with some of there other rules.

I am ready to have some more freight though. Take home is lower than I am use too driving. Normally I can plan on 700-800 every week even with weekends home, now I am not getting that much of the time.
Anyway, that is what is up with me at heartland lately.
I like to give some info when I can, since they are one of the company's that will not hire drivers with less than 1 year OTR. It gives you a glance at what many seem to be looking forward too after there first year.
They pay more per mile, but are mostly short to med haul. Normally you pick up and deliver within 24 hours. Allot of drop and hook.

    Happy late birthday widow.
I have an old desktop but no way to get it to you easy. I think if you can find your setup disk that came with your computer you should be able to redo it.
Mine is like 5+ years old, but was a hand built game rig. So while it is outdated it still works very very well and has allot of storage.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the birthday wishes! My pc at home won't even boot up anymore. Had to bring the kids to the library today so I thought I would jump on here and say thanks while I'm near a pc. Hope everyone is doing well. Hopefully I will get released to go back to looking for a job when I go back to the doc in 3 weeks. He said for now only 2 -3 hours a day no one is going to hire me for that little bit of time. So I just keep praying he will release me next time. Be safe out there and keep the rubber side down.

    Hello everyone,
I've been with Central for 6 months now and money wise, it's just not working. I love my job, so far Central has treated me ok but I'm not making the money to make ends meet. So my question to everyone here is... what is the best way to resign from Central. I'm on hometime now but want to quit respectfully but I know how Central can be. I'm not worried about the rest of my tuition or things like that. I just don't want them to send me to Fontana then tell me I can go... that's a long pricey bus ticket back to Pa. Any response is greatly apprieciated. Thanks and happy B-day Widow!!

I did not owe Central any money when I left, and it was no issue at all.
I called my dispatcher and talked to him about it, and put in 2 weeks notice.
I had taken most of the extra stuff out of my truck on my last home time, just to be safe.
I gave them 2 weeks, but actually kept running for 3.5 weeks. The company I was going to had to buy a truck for me and get it going, plus I took a week vacation before changing.

The pay thing is just what it is. They pay so low per mile that unless you run 3000+ miles a week every week you are not earning what you should be on the road. Plus with all the money they took away that drivers got when I was with them, it left a big hole in many peoples pockets.
Central is making most of there money from the school and leasing of trucks. All they have to charge per mile on loads is enough to cover the bottom line. Everything else is covered by drivers.
It really is too bad. There business plan is just not good. It relies on taking all it can from the drivers, not from hauling freight.

    Yogi4 Thanks this.

Your in between a rock and a hard place!!

If you give your 2 weeks notice they will keep your last 2 weeks pay for Tuition.

I would try have another job lined up before I left especially if its in trucking as they will try trash your DAC Report, have all your reviews printed out and good luck.

So tell us all is Techie Kate still with Central or did she quit ages ago??????

just throwing in my $.02 here.

for all the schoolies. i never made the hiring. i quit before i completed my OTR training. had a collections on my credit for $8500. i waited 6 months and disputed all 3 bureaus and after 30 days it was gone.

there's such a mill going on that they won't even take the time to verify the information is correct. if they don't respond back to the bureaus within 30 days. it comes off your credit. and they have to show darn good cause to put it back on.

As chrome said, Central make there money from the CDL Mill and Leasing and from what I hear Lease Trucks are being turned in everyday in big numbers, you only have to read about students upgrading into W9s.

We got a letter from a Collection agency for $1041 and still have no idea what its for and yep we are disputing it right now.
