I know it is a radio that is big $$... and figure it would have to be converted to 11 meter to use as cb... an it requires a very large gauge power wires to run...because of being 300watt.. an if converted ..make sure you stay off the ham bands..unless you have a ham ticket.. but other then that..from the reviews i have read.. very nice radio..

I don't know anything about ham and hams tickets I just drive...how will this radio work as is without being converted........K7DFA Thanks this.

If it's not converted, you will not be able to talk on the CB band with it.
FYI the CB band is 26.965 mhz to 27.405 mhz.
You will however be able to talk on the 28.000 mhz band which is the 10 meter ham band and is above the CB band. However you must have a license to operate on the 10 meter 28.000 mhz band. if you get caught using it on that band w/o a license and the FCC catches you (yes they can catch you) you could be looking at a very stiff fine of upwards of $10k and higher.
My suggestion if you do get it, is make sure it's converted to work on the 11 meter cb band....then if it is, find out what band you have to have it on to work. It's usually the D band but find out for sure, then NEVER EVER take it off that band.
And if you think you might accidentally bump it off (i.e. accidentally flip it to the E or F band) see if it's possible if the CB tech can hard wire it to work on the D band so that you can't flip it.
Would be cheaper for him to do that as opposed to paying up Uncle Charlie after he gets a word from the ham ops guys.K7DFA Thanks this. -
100% agree.. an if OP doesnt have any idea about 10meter.. I would say avoid this radio... unless he does as you suggest..an have it locked to 11 meter only.. but this is just MHO.. for what its worth
.. but it would make a nice radio. just dont see paying that much.. for a radio that ya have to handicap.. I would go with a galaxy dx 949 or 959.. but again.. MHO

The power cord is unique. The radio uses an Anderson type quick disconnect for power and the radio uses a external SO239 connector for antenna hook up.
The driving force is 2 IFR520's driving 4 2SD1446 final transistors with a heat sink on the back of the radio and a cooling fan on the bottom. Included is a 2ft 8 gauge power cord with a heavy duty 50 amp fuse and holder. I had one and sold it about three weeks ago, not that there was anything wrong with it I just decided to keep the RCI 63FFC4.K7DFA Thanks this. -
