1099 is bad.
Eastern European accent is bad.
Any company in general in that area is bad.
Why do ya'll come here whining that this company or that company screwed you over? If you came here FIRST you would have already known that. It doesnt matter WHAT the company name is. The recipe is the same...
To ALL Chicagoland drivers....

Most 1099 outfits are lookin' to cut corners any way they can... and that often includes driver's pay, plus zero benefits.
Having said that, I drove for a couple of 1099 outfits that ran long, literally from one ocean to another, which meant less time wasted on the docks... they also ran large triangle routes, which aren't bad for letting your hours recoup.
Another outfit ran TV tubes & other electronics from San Diego to the Sanyo plant in Forrest City, AR, out and back with 2-3 days off in between runs, which suited me at the time. A regular dedicated run on the Southern Route (I-8 to I-10 to I-20 to I-30 to I-40), which meant no severe weather... pretty easy.
So there are exceptions to the 1099 rule, as some of those 1099 outfits offer other incentives like additional home time, easy drop & hook, relatively light loads all the time, etc. We'd backhaul empty racks from that Sanyo plant, but even if we had a live reload, they were pretty quick about it.

1099 outfits do have a presence in the industry in my opinion. They helped me keep income in the house, maintain experience, keep my skills up, and bid time while I cleaned my record up. That being said, they work initially, but you can't necessarily make a career out of it.

Ya'll are missing the big points:
Chicagoland
Russian Accents -
No I'm not. Those two things are irrelevant to me. There's 1099 companies everywhere. I worked for one in Memphis and one in Chicago. Quite honestly, the one in Chicago didn't have a cheap owner like the one in Memphis. It wasn't nearly as difficult to get repairs done. Quite honestly, working for him solved some financial issues quick So....I'm sorry man, I'm not about to offer any perspectives that include bashing these folks, who I don't know personally, just because they're in Chicago. Nor am i going to bash them because theyre Eastern European or Russian. It ain't my thing to get into a foreigner bashing conversation.Veteran driver, nredfor88, mjd4277 and 2 others Thank this.

Cool. All that means is you dont read post after post of "bad trucking companies" that are endlessly "Chicagoland 1099 eastern european owned companies"....
Which if Im not mistaken exactly what this thread is about...

Well......many people who go 1099 aren't aware of TTR. So I'm not so sure they really see endless posts about Chicagoland companies.Veteran driver, REO6205 and Lonesome Thank this.

You could make a post on here that white trucks are white, and someone would argue.drvrtech77, Concorde, lester and 3 others Thank this.

I wouldn't say that. It's been a few years, but I worked for a company that had their yard at 65th and Central, just south of Midway. Hauled shingles on a flatbed outbound from the Windy, , and skids of bagged cement back. Paid on a W2, had benefits available, nice equipment, life was good.TB John, mjd4277, slim shady and 1 other person Thank this.

Actually I would trade any benefits, 401k, bonuses and seniority pay scale for straight pay and that route. I'm not looking to do this job forever.
Can anyone tell me what the catch is with that regular dedicated San Diego - Forrest City route? I'd love something like that.nredfor88 Thanks this.
