Connex Radio 4300-300 10 meter radio

The power cord is unique. The radio uses an Anderson type quick disconnect for power and the radio uses a external SO239 connector for antenna hook up.
The driving force is 2 IFR520's driving 4 2SD1446 final transistors with a heat sink on the back of the radio and a cooling fan on the bottom. Included is a 2ft 8 gauge power cord with a heavy duty 50 amp fuse and holder. I had one and sold it about three weeks ago, not that there was anything wrong with it I just decided to keep the RCI 63FFC4.

Well like I said in earlier post I would like a radio that has big power or I can add big power what radio do you guys recomend?

I have both the 43/300 and 400 and they are both typical Connex quality
Better(FREEBAND) performance comes from my 2950DX

If all you want is a loud stomping radio,get a Cobra 25/29 and a 4 pill box
Then mop the streets over any of the 10 meter rigs for less money.

Here are the "drawbacks":
1. FM Mode is NOT allowed for by the FCC rules below 29.5 MHz in any "civilian" radio service. the band is not wide enough for FM.
2. 10 KHz "Split" operation is not allowed by Part 95 in the 26.965-27.405 MHz band (C.B.), only on Amateur Radio and Government frequencies, again this has to do with the width of the band, as well as the placement of the channels, a 10 KHz "split" would put operators on frequencies that are allocated to other services and in some instances entirely outside the "11 Meter" band!
3. Any method of exceeding the allowable power level for C.B. operation is also not allowed by the FCC rules, including having a radio which without a "linear amplifier" will exceed 4 Watts (A.M. carrier), 10Watts is 2.5x more than 4 Watts, 80 Watts is 20x the power level allowed for C.B. operation at all times.
If you are a licensee in the Amateur Radio Service, you may transmit using this radio ONLY above 28.100 MHz, as there is no C.W. Mode available on this radio and even the minimum power level this radio transmits at is more than twice what is allowed on C.B. not to mention that this radio has not been "type accepted" by the F.C.C..
If you are caught using this radio in C.B. or the "free-bands" you will be subject to:
1. Equipment confiscation.
2. Fines of up to $10,000.00 (possibly more, I'd have to check).
3. Your future applications for licensing in other radio services would probably be denied.
It may be prudent on your part to consider the idea of purchasing/using "legal" c.b. radio equipment or obtaining a license to operate a station in the Amateur Radio Service. We (Amateur Radio Operators), are legally able to operate far above and below C.B., operate in several voice, data and even two T.V. modes, and at power levels that make this radio seem "puny"(1500 Watts). Our frequencies are (mostly) free of the types of clutter you will find in the "Citizen's Radio 'Service' ", including the cursing/swearing, etc. that the last time I tuned in the "11 Meter band" was almost the only type of "communication" I could hear happening. In addition those who are licensed Amateurs do not have legislative "preemption" from using their bands to talk across this country or beyond it's national borders, C.B.'ers on the other hand are still restricted by Part 95 rules to no more than 150 miles for their communications. Amateur Radio licensing has been made a whole lot easier over the past 20+ years, with the elimination of the requirement for Morse Code certification. That's right, even the Extra Class licensees no longer have to be certified to send/receive Morse Code!

Weekends must be boring in Boise????

I had a 4300-300 for a short time. Loved it but someone else liked it even better and decided to remove it from my truck one night. I am currently running a 4600 turbo. Although not as powerful as the 4300-300, it gets the job done better then my old 4300 HP.

Here we go again another FIST member tossing Code at us.

Since when were you CERTIFIED to send and receive Morse Code .. ?
Does this meen that if you are not certified it is illegal for you to use it ???

Before you toss the no-code at me BOTH my brothers are EXTRA class and so am I we all took the code my older brother at 20 WPM.
TBH ..... MOST younger hams are using digital like PSK-31 even for MOONBOUNCE digital is replacing code.

Many of the new HAMS just like 40 years ago are comming from CB they need ELMERS not to be put down because of CODE or the non fact that the test is easer ...... I'm tired of hearing " In the old days we had to build a appolo moon rocket radio to get our novice " and other simular crap ....

There are many hams on this forum who try and HELP others give it a try ......

be advised, any "dx" radio,non-fcc type , a sticker on the back of the rig will tell you if it is or not, is not legally converted to cb"11 meters"-26.965-27.405,and over 4 watts AM, 12 watts ssb, you must have a license for ham radio to have this rig in your posession for transmitting. you may listen as much as you like, but save yourself the headache about keying up above 27.900, as this is close to our band. I am a licensed operator,Ameteur extra class with a volenteer examiner certificate, and have been for 20 yrs. I will handle the problems as they arise, and have the acess to enforce. 73's, "best of luck"as it means,Daywolf
