Got a CDL 3yrs or so ago when trucking was estimating a shortage of drivers by the year of 2010 to be in the range of a quarter of a million..Does this number sound too high?? any how it was a large number but who can estimate the things that are?? Only politicians can arrange how they are and I guess they screwed up again!!To the point, I have a CDL and all the endorsements w/it yea rah !!##%%. What good is it? Does werner expect one to be a recent graduate from school??Does Swift require you to be a recent graduate form school?? Do both require a road test.. Have not been in a truck in a while must do a brush up I guess, but who requires what?? THNX
who needs what, when it comes to hiring

I think you will find any large company will want you to have been in a truck recently. If not back to class and time with trainer. You might find a local company however as long as you have been out of the seat it could be a challenge.

im no expert but i think the trucker shortage is something that cdl mills and deisel tech trade schools made up to get more students

Not trying to be a smart aleck or anything but, I would think that the best way to find out what you want to know is to call some companies and talk to the recruiters.
Just sayin'

Maybe not but it will put a dent in it.
