This morning our boss told us they were looking to hire 100 drivers this year. From the looks of it most of our competitors are also hiring.

Redi mix, $30 hr to start, time and a half after 8 hrs per day, double time after 9pm, Saturdays available at time and a half, pension, etc.

Should be able to drive manual transmission, or be able to pick it up real quick, Not a Drivers Inc gig.

Good luck on driving standard. Not sure schools even have one anymore.

100 drivers needed is a crap load of drivers what’s the reasons guys don’t stick around . Redi mix is always hiring My driver trainer at kriska went over to Innocon Inc which is union and offers a lot of things like you guys do but I think you need 1 year driving . No idea if my trainer is still over at Innocon he likes to complain a lot and their union so u start at the bottom . towards the end at kriska he thought he was owed a lot of things from the company because of his time in and that’s the main reason he left

With the inflation rates in Toronto being so high pay should start at $33/hr to keep up with the competition and guarantee on actually obtaining drivers. It's ot as though there is a influx of younger drivers going into the trucking industry especially here in Ontario.

My father ran a ready mix truck most of his career. Work volumes were obviously closely tied to construction activity and that season.

In the Winter when things were slow his employer had snow plowing contracts that carried them through the offseason.

He made a good living at it. There’s not a whole lot of driving in the ready mix sector. But you’re home every night if that’s what pleases you. They typically put in some long days when things are busy. Start times varied. Sometimes it was super early. It was all dictated by the construction projects going on.

Well that's the thing, of you want to earn real money look elsewhere such as courier type companies (UPS, DHL, Purolator) where they pay more than $31/hr) of course you will need experience.

Better have a plan B if you want to try and get on with ups or purolator atleast here in ontario. I have a good friend who worked for purolator and he told me they let a lot of employees go before their probation because they don’t want to hire you on full time and pay benefits. He had enough of the bs and left , Purolator starts you off at $25.88 a hr then it’s up to $31.71 a hr . Ups is a joke starts at $19 a hr and it seems like it’s the same as purolator as far as getting hired on . It’s a crap shoot unfortunately if you will get hired on after your 3 months . A day shift driver was telling me he passed everything at purolator but didn’t take the job because it was nights and the interviewer said point blank if i don’t like you you’re gone before the 3 months are up . He didn’t get the warm fuzzy feeling from the interviewer so he stayed here . You need to look at more then just pay when it comes to trucking companies it seems

Yall should just consider leaving the big city n even Ontario, I have and can't imagine moving back and making that low of pay and living in an expensive area...for contrast...I gross about $60-65 an hour(paid by %) driving local. And my rent for a 4 bed house n double heated garage in town is only $1000.
