    Welcome Daisy. They will pay you back in expenses for the trip down there and if you have to drive to go get your truck they will pay you back for that also. Just don't expect your first check to be big, expect small.. LOL They will also send your very first check home. You can either have direct deposit or I think they put it on the fuel card. Our first ck after truck deposit, pet deposit, taxes was a whopping $21. We have since moved on up the pay grade. Slowly but surely.. Where do live? I will try and help the best I can. If you ever get to Fontana, don't be surprised if you sit for a bit. All the volvo's have APU, the freight shakers don't. Governed at 64-65. So far everyone we meet has been nice and helpful.

    Sacred. As far as I can tell the appointments we get are typical trucking company appointments. "Hey, go get this load that was supposed to have been picked up 3 hours ago and then haul but to deliver on time." We just got done running from Atlanta to Fontana. They tried to give us a pre-plan to do a local thing tomorrow, but we let them that we are low on hours and we are getting a few things fixed on the truck... Nothing major, just annoying things... need to catch up on some sleep anyways..

    Sounds like things have improved with the appointments. They were pretty disorganized when we worked there. We would have an all day appointment only to find out that when we got there that there was in fact an appoinmtent time and we were late, when we talked with dispatch they told us that they had sent a QC with the appointment time...not so, thank goodness QC messages can be checked. So after that we started asking for the appoinment times when there was none...we also learned the hard way about night dispatch not talking to day dispatch...:biggrin_25525:.

    It was shame that they were so disorganized back then (main reason we left) as they were a great company to work for and we would have stayed and most probably still be there....

    well just got back from delivering the local thing. Hubby whined and complained about doing it but in the end, we got it done. And if I say so myself, I did a great job of backing into the dock.I had to go the wrong way on the street to get the truck in the dock. Traffic was light and only a few cars had to wait but I got it in there with no problems. Sometimes I love a challenging dock and then when I am able to do it without too many hassles, it makes me feel good to know that I can do it :D :D Of course hubby was out there directing me but I still did it.. :D :D

    Daisy I forgot to answer your question about how much it costs to get down there. I am not sure where in MO you will be driving from. You will probably have to go to the springfield airport to pu the rental and also depending on the car they give you will determine the gas cost. But we spent around $100 - $150 on gas but we kinda took our time and a couple of scenic routes. We did that because we felt that we wouldn't get to stop at some places in a big truck so we took advantage of the 4-wheeler..

    Now we are back on "Parole" board, as one driver calls it.. LOL.. but it's a beautiful day here in southern California, just a bit on the breezy side tho..perfect for kite's and sailing

    Hey CB, Thanks for getting back with us! We finally quit our other company and we are sitting here in Lakeland now. Will be in orientation tomorrow. So far so good. Just worrying over the physical now. My sugars are acting a little crazy right now so not sure how it will turn out tomorrow. Thanks for all the info! Do you both have you HM or no? How are the miles doing?

    What a interesting story! I thank you for sharing CB. You and your hubby are a team any company would love to have. In all the trials and tribulations of the first few weeks you hung in there.. Good for you. Not many would have hung it out. As hard as trucking jobs are to get these days (or atleast good ones) you two are doing the right thing.

    Good luck and god bless

    We got to OKC last night to get our truck at Freightliner. Nothing has been done to the truck, but today they are getting it spiffied up for us and a new mattress. Was hoping it would be ready when we got here so we could be available for a load, but no such luck. That's ok. We are going to get the laundry done and return the car. Hopefully by that time it will be ready. Now just worried we'll sit here all weekend because it will be so late today before the truck is ready. All is good tho. Got a freightliner with a lot of miles on it, but maybe sometime down the road we can get something else. As long as it runs and doesn't give us any troubles I'll be happy! We got truck 86755.
    We hope you both enjoy your time at home. We will most likely have to stay out a few months and then go home, assuming the miles will be bad. Hope they won't be, but I'm not going to take any chances. Hope you both are well and maybe we will see you down the road somewhere!
    Take Care & God Bless:flower::wave:
