I'm trying a new truck wash, Finish Line in TN.

They offered a free acid to keep the salt off of the rims? I've never heard of this. I do use anti rust paint on the frame. What could I do to protect the rims. I usally just use dawn dish soap for both when I'm at the house.

That's what Blue Beacon calls brightner it'll make aluminum rims oxidize, plus your fuel tanks and stainless tool boxes if you have any. I tell them no on my truck. I just polish mine every once in a while.

The only time you should use brightener is before polishing aluminum. The acid cleans out the pores and makes polishing a bit “cleaner”. If the wheels are coated, don’t use anything acidic, as it will cloud the coating.

    As always thank you.!!
I must admit as far as paying to get the truck washed. I've never seen it this clean. But in all honesty it does look like there chemicals faded the paint. But its been do long since I washed it, I just don't remember.

    ducnut and Gridaxe5588 Thank this.

I’ve used Blue Beacon, for years. They have their own chemists and chemical production. Their stuff has never damaged any of my trucks or trailers. They used to wash my RV and have washed my pickup and box trailer. I’d suggest their Rain-X wax. It costs a few bucks, but, it makes an immediate difference. Now, if BB could get all their locations to the same level of quality, it’d be awesome.

If your paint is faded, stop by an O’Reilly Auto Parts. In their body shop aisle, grab the white foam pad that mounts in a drill and on the bottom shelf grab Meguiar’s Glaze. Spend some time on your paint with that stuff and you’ll be blown away by the result. Then, you can use BB’s Rain-X wax to maintain the shine.

Just a couple things I’ve polished out with a foam pad and glaze.

This right here. I totally agree. I follow that same formula. I'm a fan of that white diamond (i think thats the brand name)polish out of Walmart. I was using the Alumalive out of the Beacon, but that white diamond is a winning formula. It cuts out some of the work.

I feel what you mean about the Rain X. Most Beacons can't rinse properly when they apply the Rain X. I tried the Weather Shield that they offer, but it isn't as good of a product. I started notating the locations that are really good. I do have other mom and pop truck washes that are effective too.

I keep a pair of coveralls in the bunk and a lot of times just wake up earlier and hit the do it yourself in dunmore pa just off 81. 25-30$ does better than the beacon. I'd rather do that then wait 2+ hours at the beacon 10 miles from the yard

What exit is it.? There is another one that fits bob tail only at exit 149A. On I 70 in IN.

When I say Bob tail only. It will fit tractor and trailer. But it is hella tight with both. And I can only wash the tractor. So I drop the trailer about 2 mins away in a big lot. Wash the truck n go back.
