Update 2:
Talked to my FM who has the pix, they are going to source the tires locally and then send me to the OH terminal for a truck swap. I refused to drive the truck the way it is, waiting at the Golden Arches for that call..
Need advice for tomorrow..

I think you're doing the right thing. Work with them and get things right, get your own tractor and take it from there. Hopefully they'll make sure the new one's in adequate road condition. You said you're taking it to west coast?

Sounds like you got about 5 yrs exp in one weekend. Way to go. tires are the main thing it looked like you would get nailed for if driving during day. Amazing what they can get done if they put their minds to it. Smoke smell is something you are going to have to live w/ for a while if you keep this tractor. Guess you could get some nasty lot lizard in there and change the fragrance

One of my husband's former employers had this thing fro preaching about tires... even down to throwning fits about tires on my personal vehicle... (THIS IS TO BE READ IN A BIG, ROARING YELL) "Those bits of rubber are the ONLY THING between you and the road!!"

Hard to believe that's an '09.....

With a proper inspection he would have been able to justify the trip. The trip failed so you must use your given right to shut that equipment down right then and there.

I'm NOT a driver but I'd have to go higher than a "shop guy". Another hit for a carrier with hundreds of trucks and hundreds of drivers might not be that big a deal for them, but it could be a really big deal for a driver who, after repeated attempts to have the carrier do the right thing, still took a shamefully defective piece of equipment on the highway. Too expensive, they say, to expensive for whom? Protect yourself and my family out there on the highway at all costs!

You got lucky, they usually try to get you to drive "as is". I've worked there twice and I still can't figure out how they decide who gets what truck. Both times I've gotten 9400. Both times they had problems that took weeks to get right, both times I gave them back in presentable condition. Yet I see tons of wrecked Prostars at the shops and brand new units that they won't assign.
If I had to place a bet, the truck you're gonna get (at the black hole) is gonna be worse than that Prostar. -
Would you want your family in a car in front of that truck? I didn't think so.
I hope making up your mind doesnt take to long.......Good Luck

The way it's all busted up...behind the truck might not be any better!
