"Thier OTR's are usualy home every weekend as far as I know....I'm shorthaul and home every night....Thier OTR only do about 1900-2200 miles a week at like .47cents a mile.....I'm hourly and live in Erie Pa.....If you live in Pitt you might get home more often or even check to see if they have any local openings......Not sure on how far west they go....I think maybe INDY....We are part of Pitt-Ohio Express so they don't go very far any more.....I'd give them a call and talk to them and see what they might be able to hook you up with......724-339-8800"

"I'm local according to them but it's shorthaul cause I go more then 100 mile radius of Erie.....I'm the only driver for them in my area...."

Thanks for the info and phone #! I want to find out if their minimum requirements for drivers listed on the website are written in stone. I do not have my cdl yet and was hoping they would take on a trainee when I get my cdl. I know it's a long shot but it can't hurt to ask...it would be nice to start off driving local if at all possible but am totally prepared to hit the road with one of the mega-carriers for a year or so if need be. Thanks again and be safe!

Hoping ToHaul if they don't take you in, take a look @ Werner Enterprise and US Express I have recommended several friends to these companies and they all still in the driver seat.. So they must be doing something right, and after you get a little time in you can jump into a dedicated run that gets you home more often or you can become a trainer. Just thought I would put that out there for you since your in the beginning stages.. Good Luck 2 U!!

Hey PapaBill are you still working for ECMI'm suppose to be starting on the 21st of this month could you fill me in on how frieght be moving I'm going to be working local out of Baltimore Md.
-
So... I worked for these guys until December 2015. They canned me (someone called in a complaint on me, and they believed the complainant over me), so I should probably ##### about them.
At the time, they were paying $0.52 per mile, and I was averaging 2000 miles per week out of their main terminal (which was in New Kensington, and relocated to Springdale while I worked there).
I worked there for about 2 1/2 years, and my tax returns showed a steady 50-52k per year in gross earnings. Paychecks rise and fall, but the averages were very steady.
Some dispatchers are better than others, but dispatchers will be dispatchers. They change companies the same as drivers do, so you get the same thing pretty much everywhere. The minute you think that you've found a place that's better than the others, they'll hire an idiot an assign you to him. It is what it is.
They like to see at least two years of tractor-trailer experience, but if you went through a recognized training program, they'll take you with one year.
They pay part of the medical/dental/vision benefits package premiums. As a single guy in my late 40's, I paid about $25/per week. They do pay weekly.
They mostly shut everything down on weekends. Dispatch, drivers... everybody goes home. Most of their fleet is local, and those guys are paid hourly and go home every night. OTR drivers get home most weekends for at least a 34-hour restart, but they do like to bring OTRs in on Monday morning, and make them sit in the truck and wait for a load assignment. Since OTRs are paid by the mile, this is free time, lost to staring out the windshield. They do not like to move OTRs to local drivers. Not sure if it's it's a pay thing or what, but if you want to run local, start local and stay local - don't do OTR.
As trucking companies go, they weren't terrible. I pushed to switch to local, so they found a reason to get rid of me, but other than the wasted Mondays, I was reasonably happy, here. -
Now that werner has bought ECM what changes have happened? Is ECM a good company to work for? How is health insurance and retirement? How many hours do u typically work?
