It's great to pop in for bar fare grub & drinks after turn'n a few super slab miles. But I ain't gonna give no one 80 bucks for a pound or 2 of cow, let alone Dani's..

No, no voodoo doll. I don't think we use those. I'll check. I'd hate to miss something that might make my job easier.
No, I was remembering when my daughters caught horse fever. I think "horsey" was the first word they spoke. We decided we'd finance them a little and see how strong their interest was . It turned out to be more than just an interest, it was a full on obsession.
4H had a good horsemanship program and they dove right into that. I got on a first name basis with the guy that ran the tack shop in town. We found out our old ranch horses wouldn't quite compete with professionally trained horses. If the ranch horses didn't try to kill us but every third time we rode them we figured that was enough of a handle. The daughters needed better mounts.
As they progressed I think we went to every punkin roller in seven counties and after a couple of years it was three or four states. They barrel raced and they worked hard at it. There were times when they had to choose between the horses and social activities and they always chose the horses. It's pretty hard not to help somebody that wants something bad enough to work that hard for it. College finally slowed them down. They knew you couldn't really make a living barrel racing and they made the right choice. They still ride but just for pleasure.
Now they have daughters and history is repeating itself. I got to say the apple didn't fall too far from the tree. The granddaughters have the same drive their mothers had. They put on the miles, too.
I guess it cost a ton of money to finance all that but I never paid much attention to that. Watching them learn and try and get better at something they loved so much was worth every dime.Old_n_gray, CAXPT, dwells40 and 9 others Thank this. -
Just fun’n — I never paid more than $800 for a horse in my life and that was a Saturday horse (work it all week and take it to town Saturday to hopefully win a couple bucks) — her dad was a college champ bull dogger and raises some serious high dollar hay burners— he also shoes and builds saddles and hauls hay in his spare time (but I kill more elk than he does) so I might buy her a pair of wranglers now and then, but the kids got it coveredexhausted379, CAXPT, dwells40 and 8 others Thank this.

I'm in!!
I've seen what you can do with that smoker.! Seems like it'd be well spent.
I'll start saving up for the beer budget. Remember, I run spot market so give me a few weeks.. lol
