    Hi Rocks!
I have been here in Fl since last year. And let me tell you I have been in a storm since I got here. There is no work here, and what is here does not pay anything. The economy has fueled a wave of abuses such as low pay,and lack of quailty work I do not miss being over the road...I do not know how you folks are doing the job in weather conditions like we have had this year being harrassed by the DM's to not idle.
I hope that you improve your situation, but I started reading the forum here again, and I think it's gotten worse.I gave up my hazmat,it was useless,$8 per hour to drive that? And the responsibility?I still hope that one day the drivers will unite and put their foot down and get fair wages and fair TREATMENT.
Till then, I no longer drive,I sit around looking for work, and when I do work it's a stuggle to get paid,or to keep working.....
Be well....I will follow this thread. By the way what happened to redcoat?
    Best wishes.

I'm right hear!!!! Yes Ive been busy. Ever scents i got home its been one thing after another. My son had the flu. Hes OK. After 160 dollars for meds. Hes OK now.

Then my lady started having chest pains. Off to the er again. They said they couldn't find anything. Day two er again more chest pains. Day three er I'm not leaving until they find out whats going on.

They found a hiatus hernia. A small one. but enough acid reflux to make the esophagus to have spasms. Which made her chest hurt and tight. She OK now with 120 meds. plus the others they wrote.

The other day her Mimi van blow a head gasket. that's one car down. Than the code enforcement had my truck towed. Said I was parked on the right away. Ive been parking there for over 5 years. and there is no right away. Its my yard.

Will It cost me $100 to get it out. And $75 to tow it back. I wasn't able to drive it. And he was going to charge me alot more if I didn't get that day. Some thang like $11 a day $75 tow fee $250 fee for paper work.

Had it out with my sons friends who was tearing up my house. Walking around like it there's. I had enough when one slammed the door in my lady's face. I kicked them all out. And my son got mad at me so I kicked him out to. He was back in a few hours. after he figured out he had no money, no food, no bed and so on.

I had to do some side jobs to make some money. Income check came in. Bills paid. Food on the table.

Covenant called two days a go asking when I was ready to come back to work. I ready. Let me tie up some loose ins. Lets go.

I had it wrong I though They was going to call with a list for me to start calling for a partner. Guess that's not going to happen. So I'm going back to covenant to chattanooga, Tn for some team meeting (yea!!). I had one person call me yesterday. wanting to team. We talked and sound good . He wanted to drive his car. and get covenant to reimbursed for the trip. Got me to call and see . They said no they don't take drivers in on the weekend. Will how did i know that was going to happen.

Now I wait until Monday to hear from them. But I'm ready to go. Thangs have been crazy around hear. And I'm running out of money. I haven't a lot to say about covenant so Ive been hanging back.

But Ive been talking with them though emails to let them know whats up. The last time we talked it was get to be too long at home . she told me they don't like drivers being home for 30 days after upgrading. So off to work we go.
Thanks for checking up on me. See you soon with more covenant stuff.

BigWheels, don't rely on Cov. calling you with names... :biggrin_25512:
Go to Chatt for the team meetings. Request a room in their lodging (you pay for your own food). Attend team meetings everyday, and talk to potential partners who are there already.

All the best and good luck.

Thanks rocks!! That what they want to happen. So I'm going to call them Monday. Hope-fully I'll hear good news.

The last time I was in Chattanooga, There wasn't alot to choose from. I went three times to see how the team meeting went. I talked to drivers in to break room and TV room.

Covenant has some kind of rule how far your team partner lives from you.For home time. I was talking to a driver who was team up with a driver who lived in NC. and he lived in FL When they got to the team meeting. She said no! I didn't ask why. They were to upset. And was talking it out themselves.

I Don't like saying hurtful things to or about people. If I can help it. When it is based on first impression in choosing a team partner. That you are going to spend 6 months with in a shoe box. Just based on putting your life in someone hands while your sleeping. There are some humdingers out there. I'm not the best out there. But load me quickly. I got to go.

Drivers unite?? :biggrin_25523: I wonder when... if that will ever happen.
My history at Cov. hasn't been bad (compared to others). The worst time was during teaming. Had 7 partners total in 6 months. But I got it done and received my 80 thousand miles bonus.
I never sat at home waiting for Cov. to call me... Everytime I went home (between partners), would spend no more than 3 days off and back to Chatt. for the next partner.
I didn't spend much time trying to know my potential partners either cause I knew it would be almost useless (only after a couple days on the road I would find out if that partner and I would work out together or not).
My first partner (who is a friend now) needed monitoring all the time and after 2 weeks, I couldn't endure that any more.:biggrin_25512:
Another partner, I got tired of fighting with her and got off "her" truck in Calif. After a week waiting, got a ride to Chatt. in another truck.
Had one abusive, violent male partner... who almost kicked me out of "his" truck in the middle of Arizona desert...
Had two partners who quit the company and got off the truck. One was in GA and I drove truck back to Chatt and was assigned to that truck :biggrin_25525: It was an ungoverned truck :biggrin_255: The other partner got off the truck in Calif. and I had to find another partner right there.
Another partner was alcoholic.... and had other than professional interests on me :biggrin_25512:
Another couldn't speak, read or write in English and lied to his wife about teaming with me (I am a female)....

After my 6 month mandatory teaming, Cov. decided not to allow anybody to move to solo division :biggrin_25521: But I refused to go back on the road with another dude. As there were no female drivers available and very few drivers wanted to drive during holiday season, they let me drive solo for a while. It was my very first time in my whole life driving on snow :biggrin_25524:(I came from a tropical country and had no experience driving anything on snow).

My dispatcher at that time gave me pretty "nasty" loads, in NY, NJ, PA in the middle of snow storms.... and very tight schedules. But I never complained. I thought that was a test and I was going to succeed.:yes2557: I was going to show them I could do it. :yes2557:
Finally my dispatcher told me he could no longer run me solo and I would definetely have to go back to Chatt and get a partner.

Back at Chatt, I was helped and got into the Walmart dedicated divison :biggrin_25514: Thanks to a female driver, friend of mine who works at Cov. and has also gone through "hell". So, she sympathized with me.

IMHO, Walmart dedicated division is the best thing you can have at Cov.

That has helped me to stay at Cov. for all this time. I have always run well, made good miles, and no complains about dispatcher, loads, payroll, hometime... none of that.

My complains like I wrote somewhere here before are:

    • low pay per mile
    • no APU and idle policy
    • not allowed to bobtail for personal use during reset
    • no power inverter stronger than 1000 watts
    • having to run Wal-mart store loads from time to time
    • and very soon.... eletronic logs!
I am preparing a list of potential companies.... will verify everything that I want and don't want and hopefully will find a better place. Nevertheless, I am a little afraid of what I will get. :biggrin_25511:

Wish I could bring my dispatcher and load planner with me and the WM dedicated... They are both very respectful, helpful and efficient. They always send me "home" on time. Never had a problem with that.
My dispatcher never bothers me. If there's an issue about the load, I can solve that directly with load planner as she is very accessible.
I really like the way this WM dedicated works. I always get preplans (sometimes 2 and 3 preplans in advance). So I can preplan my week, my hours, my trip... I call shippers in advance and sometimes even "reschedule" my p/up with them. There's no set appt. for delivery. I can dropnhook anytime I arrive. :yes2557:
Wal-mart trailers are always in good shape. And if they have a problem, I can pick another one or take it to the shop and they help me right there before I hit the road.
WM dedicated trucks have priority at terminal shop when under a load (others don't).

I am thankful for being almost 2 years in one company without major problems. Cov. is for beginners. After you get your time there, move on.

BTW, Redcoat? I think he is still at Maverick. His wife has a thread about it. Check it out.

All the best n stay in touch. :biggrin_25519:

This "rule" about how far team partners can live is baloney. I had partners who lived all over the US. My id is from GA and my partners' from Nevada, OH, MD, CA, NJ, etc, etc.

Cov. wants to make sure that teampartners will come to some agreement about hometime. Coojoh used to solve these issues but now he is gone....

I know what you mean by not much to choose from....:biggrin_25523: That was my problem too... But I didn't want to spend much time so I wasn't very picky. Had to put up with a lot of c#ap but got it done.
The longer you sit and wait, the more broke you will be and then Cov. may terminate you for taking too long...

If I were you, I would tell them I am going to Chatt, get me an authorization for a room and a bus ticket. Not sure if you pay for the bus first and then show them the ticket for reimbursement.

Then, I would spend all my time talking to drivers, experienced and students. I would not count on those waiting at home, dealing with some kind of problem... :biggrin_25512:
And I would prefer teaming with someone who has a little more experience, already has a truck but lost their partner.

    All the best. Be safe.:biggrin_25519:
