I had to have my Pete 587 towed and when I went to pick up my load the steer axle was 13500 lbs. They reworked the trailer half a dozen times and it only got worse. It went up to 14000 pounds. They kept telling me that my trailer was too heavy. I’ve been pulling this trailer for the last 2 years without a problem. With 79k my steer weights never got over 11500. After they emptied the trailer I took it back to the same scale and the steer weight was 12000, and I only had a 1/4 tank of fuel. I took it to a different scale to verify it wasn’t the scale and it was 60 pounds heavier. I dropped the trailer and weighed the tractor and the steer axle weighs 11000 pounds. My mechanic doesn’t seem to know what the problem is. I’m hoping that someone here can help me solve this problem.

    Thanks for your help
    Steve

Since you had to have it towed, was a wrecker still on the scale when you weighed it?

Someone moved the 5th wheel, move it back... or

How about WHY was it towed? What was fixed at the shop

You gave some information, but barely any of it is helpful

It was towed because the fuel pump failed. After it was repaired I went to pick up a load. Sorry, I was interrupted and forgot to mention that the 5th wheel is all the way back.

Bet they strapped or chained your drives didn't take it off. Or screwed with leveling valve.

    Thats plausible.

Op, does your truck have steer airbags? Or is one set of drives a tag/pusher axle?

It seems to me that getting that kind of weight on the steers, the drives had to be over as well. Some info may be helpful.
What kind of truck is it?
    Piece count & payload total?
Have you ever weighed your combo empty, if so, what were those figures?

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

No steer air bags. This is a typical scale ticket prior to the problem.
