Just purchased a granite with an e7-370. It has no low rpm power. takes forever to get going empty. soon as it hits 14-1500 rpm it takes off like a rocket, shift then back to a dog until 14-1500. Any ideas what to look for? have read something about updating the ecm but seemed like no Mack dealers can actually do that.

You're gonna have to do a few mods to make it run. That's not a normal E-7 like the old ones. What year is first off? 04-07 by chance? If it's those years it's an AI E-7. It has an extra lobe on the cam for internal EGR. A very restricted exhaust manifold and crappy low end torque.
Give me a bit to find a thread on big Mack trucks that will be very helpful to you. You can essentially convert it back to a regular ETech E-7. The guy gives part numbers and everything. It turned his 370 into a beast -
The vocational trucks like the granite used internal EGR with an extra lobe on the cam. It was called AI motors. The ASET with regular EGR was in the otr trucks like the ch and vision
