My home time was set for Friday and today's load delivered just south of Des Moines.
I have had 3 pplans come in, all of them have me delivering in central MI Thursday afternoon. There is no way those loads would get me home on time.
So I called my DM and had him reset my home time date for Thursday. Then one of our people planned me to get me there.

The Costco load she first sent me cancelled, so she sent me another. This one picks up at the Inver Grove terminal and delivers a load of pallets about 30 miles away at 1000 tomorrow. 300 miles empty, 30 loaded.

didn't get done till 1030 and have a 11am live unload here at Amazon. got in line at 12.
didn't know it till I got to gate but that ping line I was in was for drop n hooks.
could've drove straight in using the other lane. got a door around 2pm. it's now 545pm and I think they just starting to unload me.
have to unhook and park somewhere else.
    started my clock at 5am.
so doing the sb split to add some hours on 14.
hope they get done. if not will pc to terminal.
    so mad rite now

I got a couple nice loads out from home time. then a couple not so nice.
The one I'm on now is 140 miles empty and 35 loaded, swapping out my mt for a damaged trailer to bring to Edwardsville.
The next one is a t-called pallet load out of Edwardsville that is like 15 loaded. That one pays an extra $75 though.

I could have done this current load today, but then I would be stuck at the terminal for the night. So I decided to do it in the morning.
The only time restraint I have is delivering that pallet load by any time tomorrow, so...

On a different topic, I have been building a WoodTrick 3D train model, the Locomotive R-17.
I completed the locomotive part on this home time and am now working on the passenger car. That should (hopefully) get finished on my next home time.
There was one setback in that one of the last pieces to go on broke, so I had to order a replacement board to get that one little piece.

It is a level 5 kit, and I have a level zero experience. I have been working on it since October.
    So much fun, though.

    This is it:
Locomotive R17 - 3D wooden mechanical model kit by WoodTrick.

I may have found a new hobby.
This is what I am planning for my next project.

    Wow.
Then I guess I won't be griping about my current load. It would just sound petty.

I came north on I-29 yesterday from MO into IA.
Just before the MO-IA border there was about a 10 mile stretch that was littered with cars and big rigs off in the ditch and turned over.
I decided that I could just as well pick up this load in the morning so I stopped for the night to let the roads clear a bit more.

This morning I went to pick up my load and there were still some icy patches. I lost traction at one point, and that is always fun.
It was a straight line so I just drifted with it until I was clear. Lucky.

Then I went east on I-80 after picking up the load.
East of Des Moines I kept seeing cars and rigs off in the ditch as well. Those all happened yesterday during that storm.

Not really a big storm. either.
Only a few inches of snow fell, but there was also a light glazing of ice.
Just the right conditions to set up for some treacherous driving.

I didn't see any wrecked Swift trucks.
