He had a recording that he's gone for a week. Unless they have different recordings when they are routing calls, I don't suspect foul play yet.

I wouldn’t spend my time trying to deal with the shop and their insurance company. That’s what your insurance agent is for.

I was told by a lawyer NOT to open a claim with my own insurance. Insurance agencies can drop you I was told.
But that doesn't mean you might not get help from your insurance agency to handle their claim. They might refer you to someone who can negotiate the deal in the whole process for you without any new claims.
So, now I'm going to nickel and dime knowing they will drop the price lower during the negotiations. That way at least it will cover the repairs. I need to prepare out an estimate for reefer rental or profit losses and send it out along with the shop's estimate. From there, the representative will try to negotiate the price for what they will agree to pay.
My goal is to cover shop expenses and restore it, not patch it up. That is my goal at the end of negotiations. If I get something extra, I will put it toward securing the walls inside which I will do anyway after repairs. -
Ask another lawyer for advice. Ask your agent for advice as well.
IF your insurance company would drop you for 1 claim, that is not your fault. You should have a different insurance company.
I had a claim with my company couple years ago. Mechanical failure led to a complete loss of truck. $35,000 claim. I wasn't charged a deductible for the claim either. My premium went up $200 for the year. That was because I raised the value of my equipment.

Same as you. Great West. In 25 years, they have been the best for me. I changed companies when I had drivers and leased trucks. But as a single Owner Operator, I feel they are the best. I had them 3 different times during that period. I was never dropped because a claim. Every claim I had with them, I felt I was treated and paid a fair compensation.

It’s not so much that you’re filing a claim and expecting them to pay. They will use their resources to go to bat for you to make sure your equipment is repaired properly because they are the ones insuring your equipment. They don’t want a patch job on your trailer any more than you do because that could result in a claim they have to pay later on.

Their agent was gone for the whole week.

When adding scuff liners, would you do black or white ones?
Black ones won't show dirt. But then if there is damage it will be harder to spot being it so dark.
