Apologies if this information is else where. I was able to learn a little bit from other threads. I don't have the most excellent understanding when it comes to electric. My question is, can I hook a cyberpower battery back up/ surge protection to one of the outlets in the truck. 1800 eaton true sinewave inverter, green apu star edition. Now I would only be running a 32in LG TV, and my playstation 5. I have the microwave plugged into another surge protector into the other wall outlet. I keep that completely switched off, unless I'm using it. In which case nothing else in the truck would be running. Usually I do my microwaving while the truck is running, so before I turn it off at the end of my shift. And I normally keep the inverter off completely while I'm doing my driving.(not sure if I can keep doing this because it would deplete the back up charge) Truck is 23 t680.KW. if that matters. When I have the down time, normally a reset, I like to enjoy some gaming. I'm out for 5 weeks at a time, so it's important to me to try and make this work. If anybody has any insight, suggestions. I would really appreciate it. The battery back up is LE1000DG by cyberpower. Output: 1000 va/530watts. I just want enough time to power down the PS5.

Are you saying your truck has a built-in inverter, which powers the wall outlets? If so, just run your TV and PS5 off the wall outlets. Your truck has low-voltage protection, so you can’t completely drain the batteries.

I don’t understand the usage of the Cyberpower. It’s a surge protector and will only provide minutes of power to span a brief loss of power. It’s not a battery bank with lots of amp hours to power stuff. If you’re worried about a power surge, you can use it for that. But, it’ll need to be charged while driving. Specs show it takes 8hrs to fully charge. Seems like a long charge time for so little output.

Likewise, I’m not sure why the usage of the Eaton inverter, if the truck has one built-in.

    Am I correctly understanding everything?

I don't think it's built in? If you Google eaton sinewave 1800. You'll be able to see a picture, and then I have a button back by the apu controls I turn on. And it will say the voltage. The thing is, it's flickered before, the lights, every thing. So in doing that, it will brick my console(lost power for that split second without proper shutdown) . I only want the battery back up, not worried about surge(even though i have it, dosen't hurt right) . I want it to be able to properly shut things down, if the power decides to cut. Running this truck for another 500k,inevitably problems will pop up and I just want to be prepared. It's way cheaper to spend 100$ on the battery back up, not so I can continue leaving every thing on and playing games, so that I can safely turn things off. Within 30 seconds well say. And then deal with the problem. Should one arise. My problem is, I don't know if it's safe to run this set up on the truck. The wall outlets don't run just because the apu is on. The inverter has to be on, or the truck, otherwise the voltage will drop quick and start beeping.I appreciate you getting back to me.

If your truck has 110V outlets in the wall and can power your microwave, there’s an inverter somewhere in the truck. The truck runs on 12V DC power and requires an inverter to get that bumped up to 110V and switched to AC power to run household items.

I don’t understand why the APU doesn’t power the outlets? I’m wondering if the outlets require the key to be in the “ON” position, which triggers a relay, which powers the outlets off the truck batteries? Then, I’m wondering if the APU is charging the truck batteries?

Yeah. I think you can use the Cyberpower to mitigate the power disruption. Just leave it plugged in, while you’re driving. That’ll keep it charged.

My T680 doesn’t have a factory inverter, outlets, or APU. I have cables from my battery breaker up into the sleeper that power a Cobra inverter, which runs my CPAP.

It is ok to use it with the UPS, the UPS will give you about 3 minutes of power before it shuts down.

The PS5 consumers 200 to 300 watts and the LG display Is 45 watts.

    You can do the math.

As for using the UPS as a protection against the voltage drop out, yes, it should be there.

Yes, correct, the ups is not for running things, just to give you enough time to properly shut things down if the power DOES get cut(/trips low voltage).

Another thing a ups does is to doubly protect your more sensitive electronics from noise and "dirty" power

I was wondering that myself. The carrier I had in the last truck(garbage apus and reefers in my opinion) that one would supply power to the outlets, then I had to plug in an extension cord to the inverter in order to get power from that. I think I have a better understanding now, thanks to everyone's replies. I'm a work in process. Still trying to learn every thing I can. The apu will kick on to keep batteries charged. Thanks again
