True, 84" is usually not as high as tractor but many times they then want you to back into the elevator. There's some can't even back in to because of height. There's been a few elevators that 72" wouldn't work. In my area you see very few big condo trucks pulling hoppers. I can get my T-6oo with the high top in most places, have to take off the air deflector though.
However in your case I would think 84 would work. Didn't you buy a trailer? I can't remember what the sides were.

I bought a 45x96x78 Haven't picked it up yet Not sure if my leesee is going to switch over to hoppers. If so then we don't want to both have to pay $1000 security on the same trailer. If he's not ready by next week I'll be heading to Beatrice, NE to drop this one and bobtail to WI for mine. We were trying to work it out so he met me in WI and I could save the bobtail running.Last edited: Feb 24, 2010
wheathauler Thanks this. -
I dunno why I didn't mention this before, and at least some of you know about it, I'm sure, but if you mount another set of round convex mirrors on the top of your mirror brackets, you won't believe the difference. You can see the chute, the guys waving at you from above, the top of your hopper, even your own stacks. Much less strain on your neck trying to figure out what's going on behind you.
slabrunner, HwyPilot, montana cowboy and 3 others Thank this. -
Great advice Kajidono, I've done that for years but never thought about mentioning that. Now how to see when the loader is on the passenger side. Never tried a convex there maybe that would work.
On my T-600 it's extremely hard to see anyone when loading on passenger side. The truck has lower mirrors than other trucks. I usually just about have to empty the drivers seat of air and try to look in the mirror. -
Yeah, it does help on the passenger side. I had to turn the mount over so the mirror hung down over the top of the flat mirror so I wouldn't have to duck down to see it but it works fine either way.

Just got some safety literature from insurance company today. Talking about CSA 2010 which goes into effect July 2010. Looks it may change some things, maybe get some bottom feeders out.
Checking drivers for prehire will go back three years instead of two. Will monitor the carrier and the driver. Sounds like things will be getting stricter. I hadn't paid much attention to this but could be interesting. -
Ya our safety department has been talking about this for about 6 months now. Theres alot to it basicly you want to be working for a decent company, because any violation you get when your getting an inspection, not only goes angainst carrier but you will receive so many points on the driver. It stays with you three years even if you leave that company. There also talking about mandatory onboard recorders which we already have them and have electronic logs aswell, we have had all that inforce for three years. Its nice to beable to run legal and still make a $1000 a week. Plus home everynight lol. I think it will weed the cut throat companys out we hope anyway.
wheathauler and slabrunner Thank this. -
