Possibly this 13 speed is a direct drive unit?? Or maybe running 19.5 tires or something?
I can’t see what 2.21 rears are going to be good for otherwise
Looking for shop recommendations

Probably need to consider upgrading the drive shaft to because gears that high are going to put a lot more stress on the ds and u joints to climb a grade or accelerate unless this is being done to accommodate small tires or something
Vampire, Last Call, Diesel Dave and 1 other person Thank this. -
Hypothetically speaking, with that tall of a gear you won't even be able to get it in the big hole and probably end up with worse mpg to boot. Good luck starting out on any type of grade
-
I'll be driving in direct so 11th gear vs my double over.
Yes I have ill be at 1380 rpm at 65 mph in 11th for direct drive.
It's double over drive. I'll keep it in 11th for direct
It will handle it same concept as driving in 11th gear at 50 mph pulling a hill. -
Trucks start everyday on hills with those gears... I'm literally asking for shop recommendations not should I do this or not lol
-
If you're dead on it look for some 2.79 or 2.64
-
Problem with 2.64 it keeps me out of the rpm range for my isx. I wanna drive in 11th at highway speeds. Rear axle has a deep rust spot anyway so not gonna get much longer out of it.Vampire Thanks this.

with a direct drive trans, not an RTLO, my 3.55s are bad enough have fun doing clutch adjustments every other week
manufactures have been back and forth on the direct/Od thing for years and if they could up their CAFE one tenth of an mpg by doing direct drive they would, when it comes down to it, it is still turning the same rpm, just now with a set of useless rears behind it
If you need rears or just want the write off I’d just put a new set of 3.25 in, which are already taller then I would wantLast edited: Feb 26, 2023
Diesel Dave and Last Call Thank this. -
call southwest truck parts in pratt ks .they have a salvage yard and a shop that works on trucks.
Siinman and TruckerPete1990 Thank this. -
We guess we will just find out if it works or not. If not then i have a bigger tax write off to swap back. People kept telling me running 100k miles on oil ill ruin my engine also.. Seems they were wrong about that.Siinman Thanks this.
