Can anyone give me any insight? I got an offer and it’s only paying $22/hr, but the manager swears I can make good money. It’s on the Nitrogen side and it’s a 21/7 schedule. How has your experience been? Is the micromanagement as bad as others say? What can I expect?

It depends on witch division of airgas it is.

If its nitrogen services then you might make 85k-88k max. Because only the guys in the clique make the 120k plus.

If its on the Bulk side dont bother taking the job. The micromanagement is beyond ridiculous. They fire drivers for not walking around the truck and putting out the cones. Even if you only moved one foot.

If its retail side, then you will be pulling cylinders on a flat bed. That division doesn't have driver facing cameras that I have seen. They do ok because they don't have cameras to help micro manage.

Ok nitrogen services dept does alot of purge jobs. Either in oil field areas, or pipelines at refineries or pipelines out in the middle of nowhere. And they pay a little lower because you will be on the clock alot. But this position requires you to be gone for 3 plus weeks.

Air Products Express Services has the shortest work time of this type witch is two weeks out. Airgas and Linde/Praxair do 28 days mandatory and more time is optional. But as I said if your not in the inner circle of guys on these crews. Then you won't make the big bucks. And reporting the favoritism to HR will fall on deaf ears.

Its just up to you if you want to deal with it. Usually there hiring for this position because someone or a group all quit together. They guys in Laporte took the favoritism to HR. Then the guy over that dept said I dont care whats going on. All the task are getting completed. So im not changing any thing. Well a week later 8 guys quit all together.

Some work can be local or regional. Then some jobs can be in Wyoming in the middle of winter. It goes by the crew that your on. And what purges are assigned to that crew.

Once called you have 30 mins to reply. And 2 hrs to report and be on the way out. But this might have changed by now. Im not completely sure. I would seek out another cdl position. Because living on site with others for 3 plus weeks will get old. There aint enough movies, snacks, games, magazines, and etc to last that long.

Sooooooo....just to be clear--these Nitrogen Service positions require a driver to live fairly close to the terminal in question--T or F?
