So I am off to Indy for Wednesday orientation.

I gotta do 140hrs with a trainer sine i havent been in a truck in a while :biggrin_25516:
I really hope I get a CLEAN and COURTEOUS trainer this time. Ive yet to have one of those. Will Werner give me the boot if i refuse to get on a trainer's nasty truck?

They are telling me that the only fleets available to me are team 48 and regional. Teams are out of the question so regional it is. I dont like regional, but I'll take what i can get.

I will report back when Im back home in a month or so.

    JustSonny Thanks this.

If you have any problems or concerns your driver student manager wants to know. That's all they do, want to know if your happy or not. Macro 13 goes to them or call with your concerns.

Well today was the first day of orientation. They put me up at a Best Western Crossroads here in Indy and it's pretty nice. Especially for what I expect from a trucking company.

I am being hired on as a co-driver where they require me to complete 140 hours drive time with a trainer at $400/wk. So far so good.

Orientation was slow and boring as usual. Ya fill out all the usual paper work while waiting for the physical and whiz quiz. After we listened to the director talk and present some videos he set us up on the computers for CBT(computer based training). Pretty easy stuff. You read the material, watch the videos and take the test. All the computers have touch screens too.

I got to say so far it's more than what I expected. I thought I would be in a large class of students and we would get lectured all day, but that wasnt the case. I was in a class of 12 including students and experienced drivers.

Now what has really got my attention is there are three rehires in my orientation. If Werner is so bad why would anyone COME BACK? They seem to be pretty excited to be back here and have lots of good to say about Werner.

I was also expecting everything to be crappy and run down, but again that hasnt been the case.
Ive only met nice down to earth Werner employees and staff so far. Im liking things already compared to USA and Prime. Tomorrow I finish up and get hooked up with my trainer. Wish me luck!

Indy motel is the nicest Werner has I think. All the terminal staff was great too. Not typical of all of them though.

Okay second day of orientation was pretty boring. We sat around waiting for our drug screen results. While waiting I completed a ton of CBT courses. After the results came in, I got my company ID, med card, etc. My trainer called me right away to touch bases with me. He will be picking me up tomorrow morning. He does 48 state reefer, so it looks like I'll get to run my butt off and get training done quickly. Im itching to get my own truck. I already cant wait to get home and see my son and the misses.

I did a a load of laundry for a grand total of $4. :biggrin_25510: I tried out them new purex laundry sheets and they work just like advertised. i used to use the tablets, but these sheets are nice. They have detergent and softener in them and they go right into the dryer as a dryer sheet. Cool stuff.

Well thats all for now. I'll keep ya'll updated whenever I can. Now I'll get to see how Werner really operates.
