How about that annoying issue where the ABS light stays lit even after you hit it with a hammer? Have you ever had that one?

Do you have to take the empties on the return trip to a tank wash and babysit them there?bentstrider83 and CalculatedRisk Thank this.

Most tank washes we go to are drop and hooks. Here’s an example:
Right now, I’m getting ready to leave Tropicana in City of Industry, CA. About 20 minutes ago, I received a Qualcomm message instructing me to pickup tank 20135 at Vita Clean in Goshen, CA. for my next load that picks up tomorrow morning and goes to Spokane, WA.
I will drive the 200 miles to Goshen, unhook this dirty tank in their parking lot, then latch on to 20135 as instructed. The wash ticket will be in a plastic bag located on the front of the trailer near the glad hand connections. I won’t go inside the office, won’t talk to anyone, etc. I will simply hook on and leave.
Sometime tomorrow, dispatch will contact the tank wash and setup the washout for the dirty trailer I’m dropping and it will eventually be assigned to a different driver. Such is the case 95% of the time. It works the same way when we pick clean trailers up at our terminals.RussianBearTruckeR, insipidtoast, Speed_Drums and 5 others Thank this. -

I’ve picked up a few tanks with the ABS light on. If I’m at a terminal, I show it to the mechanics in the shop then surf the internet on my iPad or watch TV in the lounge while they fix it. If you’re on the road and have a mechanical issue, you can call the breakdown department and they will arrange for the issue to be repaired by a 3rd party. IRT won’t ever force you to drive with faulty equipment. They don’t even want us to limp a flat tire.RussianBearTruckeR, insipidtoast, Speed_Drums and 2 others Thank this.

Never tried fixing an ABS light by hitting it with a hammer. Sometimes just disconnecting and reconnecting the pigtail will cycle the sensors and it will go out. If not, write it up next time you hit a shop.insipidtoast, bentstrider83, CalculatedRisk and 2 others Thank this.

Recruiter said they required you to get your twic card. I wanted to add hazmat back to my license since Colorado wouldn’t transfer the endorsement because they need a background on their records. Just wondering how necessary it is to have one

I don’t know of any owner operators here and have never heard anyone speak of any.ATXCowboy Thanks this.
