While we’re at it. We’ll just park one of these in the distance to deal with any swift drivers that might want to back into his compound and destroy the front of his truck:

I found this on the internet earlier.
Source: Landstar closes major Ukraine operation in wake of invasioncke and LtlAnonymous Thank this. -
The 1 billion is not the building. Its the revenue they generated for the company. That means they made somewhere north of 900 million for Landstar DRIVERS...
cke Thanks this. -
Only reason to be in Ukraine is if your business is a scam
Gearjammin' Penguin, rabbiporkchop and bamanation Thank this. -
Fixed that for you. LS brokers more than half their freight these days. The load board grabbing agents like these, most likely about 2/3 was brokered. Operations like these are what destroyed the Landstar brand. LS went from domicile agents with terminals and good freight to Ukraine operations booking loads off DAT and Truckstop in less than 20 years.cke and blairandgretchen Thank this.

I dispute your 2/3s. I would think that 100% of it was. So what? Driver decides if he wants the money or not. Personally I dont even take calls from these brokers, but once in a blue moon I will take one because I need to get somewhere, sometime. The last one I took was about 3 months ago.
I have a female pure bred Australian Kelpie (she just turned 2), and I bought a 8 week old male to breed her with. The male was on the far western side of Nebraska. I found a load going to Walmart DC in Cheyenne. The gal selling him said she would meet me there as she had to go to town anyways. win-win. And it paid good enough to justify the dead head back to Minneapolis.Siinman Thanks this. -
Soooo, if the whole Landstar thing doesn't pan out, you can always sell puppies.
Cool business plan.
Have you ever thought about.. ....well, never mind -
I only work 1 day a week as it is now. I have a dedicated run I do that goes from Eagan, Mn to Eau Claire, Wi, Plover, Wi, Green Bay Wi, and back to Eagan. It pays for my truck, insurance, fuel, and a few hundred left over. Ive been doing that for 3 years now. The rest of the money I make I do day trading of stocks in my Roth 401 and usually make 1-2k a week doing that. My wife makes enough to cover the house bills and then some, so basically what I make is play money and retirement. Looking at houses in Florida right now in fact...
And the dogs thing is because I LOVE the breed. High energy, gentle dogs with a lot of love to give. King Richard on the left, Dee Dee in the middle, and Natalie (shes an 8 year old half breed) on the right.
This pic is about a month old. King is now as big as Dee Dee. Hes 5 months old now and is just getting the last of his big dog teeth. You can see from the size of his feet he is going to get a lot bigger in the months to come.Last edited: Mar 4, 2023
